Possible ad of underage escort - how is this best addressed?

For whatever it's worth and don't shoot the messenger but when I text her a few days back she openly admitted to being 17. She was proud of it and even gloated about it. I told her I'd contact the proper authorities but it appears the ball is already set in motion. Good work!

On top of that, she also stated her sister is also escorting. After she told me, I did a quick search here and quickly found out that the sister is a known scammer in the Abbotsford area. There's no doubt in my mind this chick is underage, and even if for arguments sake she isn't, the fact her sister is a known scam artist, just spells disaster and trouble all around. Let's agree this is one to AVOID at ALL costs.

And on the topic of scamming, yeah - I wouldn't be surprised. Her rates were all over the place from 380 to 200/hr. I guess it was to get guys to bring money to her to get mugged or scammed.

Be assured our concern is only the young woman. As it appears no one else was willing to report this to Vancouver Police, we took it upon ourselves to email this link to them. Claiming to be afraid to share this information to authorities is like being afraid to report a robbery of your home because you may be associated with it.

Well buddy, you just broke the law, in a major way. Texting her, or any form of communication with a minor for prostitution - even if you thought she wasn't, even if she advertised as being over the age of majority, is an indictible offense of 6 months to 5 years jail.

Section 212(4):
"Offence — prostitution of person under eighteen
(4) Every person who, in any place, obtains for consideration, or communicates with anyone for the purpose of obtaining for consideration, the sexual services of a person who is under the age of eighteen years is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and to a minimum punishment of imprisonment for a term of six months."

So thanks for letting us all know, but you better hope and pray that she is over 18 and the cops don't seize her cell phone and look you up. Worst yet, after the sentence is over you might be entered into a sex offenders database, with a special mark for sex with a "child". Then they'll take your DNA and record that. Then also forget ever crossing the border to the USA because Canada shares that information with the Americans.

That's why when I see these ads, I don't ever contact them and I don't ever call it in to the cops. Stay far the fuck away.

Crimestoppers may work (but I've had some negative experiences with that program as well) and preserve your anonymity, but a call to the local detachment only puts you on their radar.
"Why were you looking for underage girls?" is probably one of the first things you will hear. I've had some pretty weird/invasive questions posed to me at roadblocks on occasion, so talking to them about something like this is something you may want to reconsider.
I can see them taking a different tack when a SP liaison is involved, but an average guy coming forward may end up being extensively questioned (interrogated).

No, that's not exactly how the conversation took place. I'm including only the important parts pertinent to the discussion at hand. Initially the conversation was about the donation, because like others have commented, the fluctuation of about $200 from one minute to the next is the sort of thing that sticks out like a sore thumb. It seemed really fishy to me. Do I need to provide a full length transcript?

You can't shit on me for not reporting something immediately that very minute. I take most of what escorts say with a grain of salt. Maybe she was saying she was 17 just to be cool? I'm not her, only she knows how old she really is. I generally prefer keeping to myself and at first just shrugged it off. It wasn't until today I saw this post and noticed how much attention it was receiving that perhaps wow maybe she really is underage.

I'd hate to see some innocent guy get taken advantage of and ripped off, then read about it later and say, damn, I should've said something sooner! You don't find the fact that her sister that escorts is a known con artist or that this chicks rates were all over the map even remotely strange? Or is that kind of stuff above-par and totally normal to you?

IF her sister is participating in ripping people off etc. then you should post the link to said thread to substantiate it versus just saying it, so it provides proof that this is going on. And could be the "sister" up with some new pics pulling the same gig, but since we're supposedly onto her gig, maybe the jig is up and she needed a new identity or an alternate one.

The police monitor those kinds of sites for signs of underaged activity and I'm sure they would have seen what you have seen.

Don't be absurd. No one is going to be charged for determining that the girl is in fact under age and walking away.

That section of the code would only be used if you believed, or had reason to believe, that she was under age and continued to solicit anyway.

They can and will access anything that is public if it is part of an investigation. Those officers tasked with looking for underaged prostitution or trafficking (it is called gathering intelligence) are going to be keeping an eye on sites like craigslist and ERS. There is no reason for them to read THIS site, because none of that would be happening here, but the more unrestricted advertising sites are going to be watched.
