I always thought you needed a prescription, but it appears that's not the case here in Canada. So you just go up to pharmacist/assistant and ask for some?

And in case you're wondering, no, I don't need any. I just want to be at my peak performance for my next sp visit.

Negative! You need to get a prescription...

BTW - Telling a Dr. you don't need it, but you just want to be in peak performance won't work.

Rather, you need to say something like..."I have difficulty maintaining an erection" :fear:

Jeez ITB can't you get anything right ? That's " I have difficulty getting an erection." You have to remember who you're dealing with here.

If you have a good relationship with your Dr, he will give you samples...mine does. But read the package as they come in single dose and double dose size. Your supposed to break the double dose in half...if not you can be in for a rather uncomfortable injection to get rid of the 8 hour rager in your pants...

Didn't I read somewhere recently that they're going to allow generic versions of Viagra to be sold soon?
Yes, an Israeli company beat Pfizer in the Supreme Court of Canada and generic Viagra will soon be available in pharmacies (with prescription). Pfizer has apparently lowered their prices and are trying to match the generics, I highly doubt they will actually be able to meet those prices!

If you are self employed or have a business you can write the cost of viagra off as a business expense, making it a real bargain.

Just curious as to what expense account you would use to write this off? Is it considered an employee taxable benefit? Thanks in advance.

You use a Private Health Services Plan to write it off and it is not an taxable benefit for the employee. PM and I will give you the relevant references.

He's correct. Private Health Services Plans are the only true tax loophole left for businesses in Canada. Under a private plan, the company can "write off" medical bills and prescriptions at 100% operating costs, and the employee is not charged as a taxable benefit. Contact your accountant to set this up. Covers glasses, prescriptions, dentist visits, acupuncture, physio, etc. Sadly, it doesn't cover wellness equipment like weights, bikes, etc.

I have a such a plan and it works well. It is a great way to make your business pay for all your medical expenses. I think it will also work for working ladies who pay taxes as they are self employed. Pm me and I will send the details I have.

You need to get an initial prescription. But after that, the pharmacist can renew it for you. Same as any medication you take longterm. As it makes no sense to keep going back to your doctor just to get more. Waste of his time. As viagra doesn't cure ED and will likely be needed forever.

My employers health plan allows me to to purchase $400 worth of ED medication a year, which they cover 80%.
I am not sure how they came up with $400, since its the only medication with any sort of limit period.

So I figured, I should start stockpiling them now.

I guess 50mg is about $5 each full price at a pharmacy, not sure the minimum they sell.

Here's probably a bad idea, but fun to consider anyway..

SP's should keep a supply on-hand, and offer one for a fee for a viagra.

All prescription meds are tax deductible, hence the elaborate receipt most pharmacies give you detailing how much was covered and how much you paid out of pocket.

Neil I would suggest you buy the 100mg pills and split them. Most meds are priced based on what your daily dose is. For example I take Crestor for high cholestrol and my daily dose is 10 mg. 30 pills cost approx $68, so what I end up doing is buying 30 of the 40mg pills and splitting them into 4. Those 30 pills costs $70 instead of $68 and last me for 4 months.

Pharmacies will fill whatever you have a prescription for, they will even fill repeats at the same time which would save you paying the dispensing fee twice.

You're right, it IS a bad idea.

Giving a person someone else's prescriction is a criminal offence. I think it's called "administering a noxious substance." If the person dies it is a serious criminal offence.

It's been thought of before by a prominent SP on this board who will remain nameless. I don't think she realized how unbelievably stupid her actions really were. Even had the gall to flame me in PM. I never wrote back and glad she didn't learn the hard way, if you'll forgive the pun.

Keep your prescription drugs to yourself! It's why a doctor has prescribed it in YOUR name.
