The thing you always have to keep in mind with every older movie is that it may seem overdone, cheesy, or predictable now, but you have to put it into the context of the times. It was usually among the first of its kind. You enjoy it a lot more that way, because you know it was what inspired all the movies after it.I've watched godfather for the first time this year. I just hated the entire movie and couldnt stand it. Rewatched star wars and Return of the Jedi and thought it was crap.
Plus, with classics, you essentially know the whole storyline already and many of the best scenes because they're referenced all the time, and unfortunately that does take away from how powerful the movie is. That being said, if you look past that, and focus on everything the movie truly is you can still get just as much enjoyment out of it.
Star Wars and Return of the Jedi I've never seen so I can't comment on that lol.
