No mercyshooter, you disrespect, because the ego-centric person you see every morning in the mirror , does not understand respect, nor have reasonable respect for others. You look at a person, and instantly ridicule them knowing nothing of them or their heroic and selfless accomplishments. The two accomplished RCMP members carrying the cup proudly represented themselves and our country, with spit polished shines on their boots and Sam Browne's.
I don't know if you know how respect is being earned. What you are telling me is that everything that you have today is granted, instead of earned. You are disrespecting people who work hard everyday and still have to support those that don't work hard everyday. You see how ridiculous your meaning of respect becomes? World definition is always convincing than local definition!
Who was fatter, the RCMP, some of the fans in the stadium, or a few players in the game?
Next time they should have an award for MVP - MSF, Most Sexy Fatty.

Mercyshooter....I suggest you visit a medical professional. Your arguments, and statements....if they can even be qualified as such....are so scattered, non-cohesive and devoid of any semblance of logic that I am pondering whether there may be mind-altering substances involved here. ....and for the record...a large percentage of the player's on the field had bigger guts than those cops.....and those big gutted players are pretty tough...would you mess with them? No?....Then who would be foolish enough to mess with those big experienced cops.
LE needs cops of all shapes and sizes.....slim ones for foot chases....female ones for communicating with distraught women and men (women are better at eliciting empathy and often compliance by their non-threatening presence...even among the baddies) and muscular / chunky big ones to effect quick arrests when words fail by sheer overpowering weight and size advantage. Size wins, whether it be muscle or fat.....as long as the fat is within reason (A sumo wrestler would do quite poorly here due to loss of flexibility and agility).

all shapes and sizes: well this concept is kinda b.s. to me per where I came from. like i said theoretically speaking it is ok. but reality speaking, they must be able to do a foot chase of long distance and short time, especially front-line cops (those that on beat), detectives, etc. there is a chance that the criminals/suspects will run away.
like i said: a prosperous international metropolitan city will tell you what the world and reality are really about.

Fat people do not run as fast as people who are in decent shape - you can argue until you are blue in the face, call other people mental or biased.

Evidently not all RCMP need to run fast. I would think the force has other jobs besides
marathon and sprint racing. Maybe some who oversee others, some pencil pushers,
some strategists, maybe even some that can think. Evidently those at the game were

Hmmm...perhaps because in today's world..and the major crimes that society cares about...and our current criminal justice system....for an officer, running and sprinting is not a skill set that is very important, to be frank. And "morbidly obese" is not OK for a police officer....but a bit of a belly?.....C'mon now. Collecting and documenting crime scenes with extreme precision, then performing a complete investigation and documenting it such that Crown Counsel can navigate the court system and the accused' Charter rights such that the baddies get convicted ......that is where real police work has to be done today.
The stereotype of officers chasing bad guys on foot, while well portrayed in almost every movie and cop tv show, is just that, Hollywood. No one would watch a cop drama if it involved watching an officer type out a report.
So yes.....to be able to fight in close proximity to the bad guy is very important, to preserve the officers' safety and life. But bad guys running away on foot in today's world would very rarely escape.....there are so many cops around....and no one can outrun a police radio call to other units, dogs....involving other technologies.....(eg. the RCMP helicopter with its thermal cameras)...those units will intercept the bad guy when he/she is exhausted. Smart policing at work.

you are avoiding to talk about how to deal with criminals/suspects at the first place. are you naive enough that these guys will come forward and turn themselves in? are you naive enough that these guys will stop running/escaping on foot and let you cuff them and put them in a holding cell? :crazy:

The public and media cannot see what you do inside your own office. It's the action that we all care about. This is what the public and media can see. All actions on the streets are your report cards for cops. And all the police actions are fucking hilarious in Canada. Report card is a total fail.

"Actions on the street" are not report cards for cops....unless they are very negligent actions by Police or abuses of power (the media loves to show almost any action as an abuse of power as it sells ratings) and then they are very negative report cards. The real report cards are:
-Traffic Stops conducted to find gangsters/contraband/drug traffickers/weapons/impaired drivers/terrible drivers
-Traffic Stops encouraging seatbelt use and discouraging cell phone use (saves lots of lives)
-Evidence collected thoroughly at every crime scene
-Lawful arrests made with as little force used as is necessary to safely effect the arrest for both officer and subject
-Respecting the accused' Charter rights
-Writing successful Search Warrants and Information to Obtain
-Files investigated to conclusion resulting in successful court appearances and convictions of the scumbags that prey on the innocent.
Now that is what forms a good report card for an officer.
Funny...I've answered this in 2 posts thus far......Police Radios, other police units in the area, police dogs, helicopters, technologies etc can be used to track a fleeing subject. It is extremely rare for an officer to have to engage a foot chase solo, and even then, he/she can broadcast directions of travel and locations for other units to engage....fresh units, that will engage a tired or exhausted subject. And preferably you would have some BIG cops there to effect the arrest with little struggle. Don't ask the same questions again as though I haven't answered them. This is getting tiresome. How often has the average citizen seen a police chase on foot. I think I've only seen one in my life, and I'm getting long in the tooth.

Boy am I glad that you are not the one writing report cards to anyone. I'd say your responses in this thread have been a total fail.
It's the only human thing to respect your "culture". But it's other moral reasonings to not to respect it.
