I know you're being glib, but let's actually look at this as members of society, in a real world perspective. Great and all, that say some dude robbed a bank, and because he's addicted to crack, meth and is also using drugs to self medicate his mental health condition, where in a perfect world he'd be in treatment in a hospital or facility where he'd be securely held for his and society's safety. So, he panics, freaks out, does whatever and gets....shot? Because he's so desperate that he thinks the only solution to his problems is to rob a bank. And for that, this guy sho could be your brother, son or dad, is dead. Saved you some dough? The public? You're kind of thinking, though popular for the revenge of the victims of murderers and sex offenders, of which I'm not disputing severe and harsh penalties that are really meted out, people who are like the dude previously mentioned are thrown into the mix...like Texas, where they executed a mentally challenged man for a murder that he didn't understand that he commited....well, that's enough of my soapbox...nighty night.
