uh...Edmonton.
I am hoping you guys/gals manage to pull something off. We have MERL (Men's Equal Right's Liberation) here in Edmonton with three fulltime members in HB40, Jim, and myself. It started as a lark and a cross post on some crap that HB was yammering on about. He's a good man....

Anyway, from my experience.....I agree with the OP that it is nice to have someone with whom you can yak and swap stories about PERB related activities...and so far as worrying about being "identified"....well, that's just a bit silly. What it boils down to is an extra couple of friends whom you are able to call up "wanna go merling?"....and it either works...or it doesn't. It's just some average blows sitting around in a pub shooting pool and letting off some steam. Or, fixing Jim's walker, but we're taking up a collection to get that tired piece of aluminum replaced.

We have guest speakers planned...nothing has happened yet...but, it will. UncleG is coming out later in the month.....HB's got some chicky who is going to give a detailed explanation on GFE/SGFE/blah blah blah....Freyja will descend amongst our midst....and there's always Electra the local tramp for entertainment purposes.

Anyway, what I can confidently state.....I have met a few pretty cool people as a result of MERL. What I find is that their in person persona pretty much reflect their on the board persona's. Start small, and get the fuck out for a beer. Lord knows we can all use an extra "like minded" friend or two in this insulated world.

Last thought.....don't have it at the Drake. Somebody stole my fucking sweater from there.

kindest,

eddie.

HELLLLLLLL, no.

I was the one who made him get rid of it!
Well, prior to heading down to the local garden thingy to pick up a couple of "blowout priced" plants....I can't let this slide by without reply. Yes, she told me the sweater looked stupid. It was an "Arnold Palmer" some sort of cross checked rig....I liked it! But, she said, no, it looks stupid. Sigh. So, not being the sort to fail to accept good advice, I walked out on the street and offered it (it being the sweater) to various passersby. I was met with looks of incredulity....obviously I must be insane to give such a fine garment away. But, once the homeless guy picking bottles out of the trashcans declined....I realized....not much of a sweater after all.

Back into the Dover I go....order up another round....carefully place the aforementioned sweater over the back of my chair. The evening draws to a close, I act like a jerk but Freyja bails me out, and off we go. As I look around for my sweater....there it was...gone. I was stunned....even moreso than usual.

be well and safe,

eddie.

OK, so here's what I am thinking, we pick a night, presumable a night during the week, there is more likelyhood that I/We can convince some of the lovely SP's to show up if it is not a busy night for them. We meet at the Number 5 Orange and have a social, I can contact the number 5 once we set a date and time to get a table, or reserved area, I can see 10-20 People showing up. There has to be some ground rules...

1.) If you think you are going to show up and disprespect anyone, think again, you will be asked to leave us alone.
2.) if you run into someone you know, keep it on the Downlow, remember Confidentialiy and discression are key.
3.) Ladies, feel free to discuss business, but Guys, do not expect to show up and "Sample"

these are just a few that I can come up with, mind you I am trying to keep it fun. I can bring Name tags, I don't really forsee any other costs...

Please reply and let me know what you think.

Sounds like a good time, perhaps once I have enough of a presence on these boards that I won't feel like an interloper I'll head on down.
