How does one quit smoking?

Thanks, I don't need your opinions on this subject either.
No problem HB40, it's been noted. I've noticed a lot of things I've said in the last little while have upset you.

okay, all joking aside i do agree that smoking should be easy to quit. actually i think it should be banned all together.
Agreed 100%. The rest of it I won't wanna argue about:p

I don't think so, not anything in particular I can remember.

You always make me laugh Hubba, and you usually know what you're talking about. Except this time, too bad you weren't around before I smoked, it's so much easier to tell someone to just never start.

I wish I knew the answer to this, also.

It should be banned.

Not ever starting would have been my best exit plan.

Big hugs....YOU CAN DO IT!

And remember, relapse is supposed to happen. Just remind yourself with post-it notes, self-support, positive thoughts... and just fucking manifest quitting.

It HAS to be in my near future. I hate being a smoker....except there are times when i LOVE smoking.

I will try and apply my own best advice.

I started when I was 14, and I quit 16 years later. I've been off for two years now. It's all mind over matter Talk to your doctor, maybe try Champrix. Do some very active sports like basketball or ball hockey and fell how dead your lungs and legs are and that might you wanna quit. Good luck.

Thank you Mistress Freyja, maybe you can help Eddie and me celebrate our achievement (you see how I put that in the present tense Hubba, it's a foregone conclusion since I made up my mind this time). I don't intend to quit, I already have, I gots the willpower! :)

The best of luck to both of you. As my own attempts have failed, that is close to the best advice I can give you.

The only thing worth adding beyond that is, as it has always been the habit and not the addiction that has killed me, finding a substitute or just plain avoiding the activities/locations you associate with smoking may help .

Of all my friends who quit smoking and never smoked again every single one of them quit cold turkey and began exercising and eating well. I have NEVER met anyone who has done it any other way and stayed off. Quit, get healthy, stay quit.

uh...Edmonton.
HB is so going to be buying.

That said.....a few thoughts.

1. Hubba.....I am kind of scratching my head a bit.....I hadn't really asked for sympathy or judgment. I know it's a stupid habit and completely indefensible. The first paragraph of my post answers how I plan to beat it. My initial reaction to that line of thinking was best summated by Hank....do you ask a poor man to make more money? Do you tell a fat person to lose weight? Do you tell a stupid person to grab an I.Q. point or two? I doubt you would, you will judge only by the effort made by the afflicted individual. I agree, anything is possible, I have little room nor time for "oh, I can't do that because blahblahblahblah" excuses. Perhaps my title was poorly chosen. I love you Hubba....errrrrr...in a manly way of course.

2. HB.....WHEN you lose, it will be a private session with Miss X and myself. Gawd, I have enough fear of flying without worrying about you being in the same room. I am pretty sure we could have had Electra though....the thought crossed my mind. An MMF deal with you....comes after that. You're a good buddy.

3. Miss Freyja....how to phrase this?....as easy as the thoughts that come to mind is best. I picked up my first ciggy after 5 years off during my visit to vangroovie with Freyja. I hold her soley and completely responsible for my failure! Nah, much as anyone who complains about "something else" causing them to fail....(insert your own failure)...I won't ever use that excuse. What I would rather say is.....I couldn't have found a better time nor place to pick one up than the moment I did.

4. oppai....I completely concur. Any devolution of a bad habit is best assisted by the evolution of a better one.

most respectfully,

eddie.
