Someone is on their cell phone without any regards for the rest of us trying to have a relaxing dinner together!

Total disregard for the rest of us enjoying a night out on the town!
Has it happened to you?

Nope, I don't like people so I don't hang out with them. If I do go out it's usually by myself.

When you are in public, you should be conscious of the other people around you. If they are like the lady in the cartoon, pls ask her to leave to a more private place to have her phone conversation. Its only polite. Its the new social norm.

Really? It certainly wasn't the norm the last time I was out and about in Vancouver. But then, I've been living like a hermit since March last year, so maybe there's been a sudden flowering of courtesy that I'm unaware of.

That happened to me in Kamloops.....
Long story short, he was having an argument in Cantonese with someone at the top of his lungs right behind me, to the point of his voice becoming preadolescent, ....he was screaming so freaking loud.
Some big sodbuster, with leather for hands ripped the phone from his face.....and tossed it out in the parking lot.
He of course, went to retrieve the offending device, and continued his conversation outside.
Upon sitting down, the big guy received a round of applause from the other patrons, trying to enjoy their meal, and received a free round of Scotch from the staff.

I was having breakfast with a co-worker in Vancouver in the early 90's. Guy at the next table was talking on his brick of a cell phone in a loud voice so we could all tell how important he was. My work buddy gets up, walks over, grabs the guys phone and throws it on the floor and says "a few of us are trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast, asshole". Total silence; guy gets up and leaves after retrieving his phone. no clapping or freebees but we had a nice quiet breakfast!

No.

But closest thing to that was some guy showing me attitude because I was sitting behind him, facing away from him, while he was on his phone. This happened on the SkyTrain.

I guess he had confidential stuff on his phone, and didn't want anyone else to see any of it.

The guy was sitting on a handicap spot.

Total asshole.

We see a clearly defined group at work who wear earpieces all the time and walk around yelling their side of the conversation.

westwoody, that must get so annoying after a while. I guess your group is beat & all you can do is make the best of it. I was thinking maybe get a big pitcher of water & collect all those offending cell phones, of course do it with a smile!

When some one takes their relationship problem I. to a restraunt. And every one around them have to here and see this drama playing out. I have seen it way to many times. And acctually had it partly happen me too. It us,not pressent from either view point.
I know some people us the public place to there advantage but it not where you take your profit life crisis.
It just as bad when uou have to listen to a guy telling g his buddy about his problems or his shifting attitude towards his girl friend . Worse when they are both drunk.

One time there was a young lady talking to her cell about the most recent episode of The Bachelorette in public transit. This was a few years ago and couldn't help but think that this could b very well as good as it will get for her. Sad really.
