Koodo just rents space from a local network. I bet they're not all that good. In my opinion, you pay for what you get. I'm with Telus. They have the best quality sound and transmission you can get here in Western Canada. Rogers and Bell are a close second. Fido is definitely third. Koodo would likely be fourth.

I heard Koodo is owned and run by Telus. The problem with Telus is the offshore workforce. I called 411 the other day and got a lady in Manila, could hardly understand her but I got the number. Now giving her my personal info, Visa and sin # to get a phone is another question.

I stopped at a koodo kiosk in the mall and their plans seem pretty good...way less than I seem to be paying now. They only have a handful of phones to choose from tho...but I like the fact that you dont need to sign on in a contract!

That's what i thought also about the no contract. If things dont work out and receptions sucks you can always go elsewhere

Nothing original there; just a page from Virgin Mobile & PC's (Superstore) play book. They're allied with Bell Mobility. The big carriers are starting to have sleepless nights now that T-Mobile (Germany) & AT&T (USA) are preparing for an onslaught into the Canadian market which has been over-priced for years compared to other OECD countries.

About Time...... now that we have number portability, I think the next thing to go is these contracts. The way I see it, if they have to lock you in for long terms, it's because they are robbing you! If I received a great service and fair price, I wouldn't be looking to change.

I find it funny watching what is going on in the US. Not sure who started it but now, you can get unlimited use of your cell phone with calls to anywhere in North American calls for 59.99 a month($US). Can't wait to see some new companies start!

These charges drive me nuts!

Koodo is Telus last ditch effort to make up for all of the lost customers last year that they lost to Rogers/Fido seriously how in the world does Telus compete with the following that Rogers/Fido has/had

Unlimited Network Calling (Rogers to Rogers, Rogers to Fido, vice versa, Rogers to Rogers Home Phone. same with Fido as they are on the same network.) that basically killed the need for a City Fido replacement

now you add Unlimited incoming and some decent minutes and your set. not to mention its GSM and you can have almost any phone you want with virtually no hassle compared to CDMA carriers.

its a clear choice and Telus is really trying to make up for those huge losses. CDMA is on its last legs if you ask me.

I can bet you that most of the people that are still currently using Telus are only there because
a) they have had it for so long they are scared to lose their number
b) They dont know that they can carry their number over to another carrier
c) They cant be bothered to change carriers just the same way some people continue to get service charged up the ass at their bank when there are many better alternatives out there.

The funny thing is Telus really wanted to break into the GSM market by making their own GSM network but looks like they failed or didnt have the funds to do it so they came up with Koodo which is still CDMA and is another epic fail for telus.
