Your opinion on dreadlocks

What is your opinion on dreadlocks?

Personally they make me feel that they are truly unhygienic and look disgusting.

I LOVE dreadlocks, my old room mate had them and she took such great care of them, they smelt GREAT all the time. Its just about taking care of them properly.

Like most hair depends on how someone takes care of it. Some are disgusting some look good and are taken care of.

Really depends.

Can certainly work on some girls and not others. I particularly prefer colored dreads over "natural" ones.

I like the long synthetic ones only.. Real dreads are gross and generally not very nice looking or well maintained..

Eva: the third pic under "real dreads" are synth dreads ( not that it really matters).
I used to make synth ones.

They are disgusting right up there with tattoos. The only reason black people have dreadlocks is that they simply have very few options.

i voted that i hated them - mostly because when you mention the word 'dreads', i tend to think of the last MALE that i saw wearing them and a little bit of vomit chokes in the back of my mouth. however, i have seen SOME females wearing them who looked pretty good - mind you they were pretty females before they started wearing them so why not. basically i know that MOST females take more care with personal cleanliness than most males, so the dreads are going to be cleaner. but yer basic ex-con looking guy out on the sidewalk is not going to have clean dreads. sorry if i've offended anybody here, but that's just the way i see it...

When I first started working in the industry, I had real dreads and absolutely loved them. I had them maintained/tightened every 2 weeks and washed them regularly, never had a complaint. A few clients were sad to see them go when I decided to take them out... But I realize they're not for everyone and yes, I have seen some nasty, nasty dreads. I think if they are maintained and clean, there is nothing wrong with them at all.
Personally, I loved the texture and volume it gave my hair... I probably won't get them redone as I'm in a different place in my life now, but they were fun while they lasted... And I'm loving having "normal" hair now too
