Reconciliation with my wife and rebuilding of our marriage.

a fella was walking along the beach when he stumbled upon a Genie's lamp. he picked it up and rubbed it, and lo-and-behold a Genie appeared. the amazed dude asked if he was going to receive the usual three wishes
the Genie said, 'nope ... due to inflation, constant downsizing, low wages in third-world countries, and fierce global competition, i can only grant you one wish. so ... what'll it be?'
the fella didn't hesitate. he said, 'i want world peace. see this map? i want these countries to stop fighting with each other'
the Genie looked at the map and exclaimed, 'sheeit man! those countries have been at war for thousands of years. i'm good, but not THAT good! i don't think it can be done. make another wish'
the fella thought for a minute and said, 'well, i've never been able to find the right woman. you know, one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and keep house, is good in bed and gives good head, gets along with my family, doesn't watch soaps all the time, is faithful and doesn't talk back. that's what I wish for ... a good mate'
the Genie lets out a long sigh and says, 'let's have another look at that fucking map!'

I'd wish for a world where children are not born into poverty and squalor, and never go hungry. The sadness and sorrow of that reality supercedes any wishes I may have for more personal wealth and material possessions. If you have your health, family, true friends, sustenance, a roof over your head and a worthy vocation, anything else is a bonus.
For something more realistically attainable, I'd wish to build on a vow I made last year to become a more selfless individual and volunteer my time more for the good of the community. Well, maybe that's a New Year's resolution thing, but I know I've got a long way to go in those areas. I got more active with a Christmas hamper program our company is involved in this year and it's frightening to see how many families are truly in need in our own community, with little hope, little future.
Not sure exactly what I can do to help, but now that I am single, with some extra time on my hands, and some influence in the community, I want to try. If playing sports, watching sports, working out and trying to impress girls half my age has to take a back seat once in awhile, so be it.
So I guess the one gift I'd like is the one of giving.

I got more active with a Christmas hamper program our company is involved in this year and it's frightening to see how many families are truly in need in our own community, with little hope, little future.
