Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I'm no socialogist so I have no concrete theories (despite my own theory that violence in TV, Movies and Video Games has desensitized an entire generation) but what has gone so terribly wrong with society where someone will stab and kill someone over a game of minature golf? In front of the guy's family at that.
Sure we don't know exactly what happened. Maybe the dead guy was being an asshole and deserved a punch in the mouth but to actually stab someone in the neck with a broken off putter!?
I personally couldn't even imagine doing something like that to someone (exception would be if someone harmed my daughter but that's another thread) no matter how mad I might be at them.

They think they are tough guy adults?, well boys, welcome to the world of beign tried as one. Unfortunately for the offenders , there will be no putters in prison for them to use and well, there will be many a man looking to score a hole in one on them once they enter prison.

I feel for the innocents in this, their lives will forever be haunted by what happened.

Just a waste all around.

some young people are fearless, stupid, trailer-park boys.

There was a great cartoon I saw in Penthouse a while back where a TV reporter was asking Attila the Hun if movies and video games made him violent. The human race has been violent for thousands of years, why do we assume that those violent tendencies will magically disappear just because we are supposedly civilized?

People aren't naturally honest, peace-loving, empathic.
While all agree that there is a lot of dishonesty, anger and self-centredness, the question put is about what is natural.

If greed, hatred and confusion were all eliminated, how would people behave?

Emotional afflictions and mental confusion are overlays to the human psyche.

When folks are not consumed by greed, they are naturally sharing.

Folks do not have to work at kindness; but, rather, they have to devolve habitual patterns of hatred.

When people do not put false value into things or situations, confusion ends and empathy naturally arises.

on yer ignore list
people's behaviour can be described by a series of bell curves describing various attributes

but waaaaay out there at either end of the bell curves are the people that are just born criminals - evil people - and it has nothing to do with upbringing etc.

a couple of those in any crowd can turn the crowd (of normally law-abiding citizens) into a wild, unthinking mob
