I'm at a loss to explain what happened to the site...it has disappeared...I have contacted the administrator with the hope of gaining some info but have yet to hear back from him...
I do know that it wasn't run bi LE
I did actually meet the administrator for coffee once...I don't think it was busted either as there was really no reason to shut it down...and besides...had it been shut down bi LE I'm sure that I would have heard about it...

if it were simply a case of Mr. X not paying the bills then I think some sort of error message from the server would come up...in this case the site is just gone...very weird and somewhat disturbing considering the amount of work he put into it...

It could just be that the server has moved and the DNS (domain name servers) just have to catch up. That usually takes 24-36 hours and the site will appear to be gone while this happens. Or on the other hand, it could have been shut down, most likely by Mr X. I agree that LE likely wouldn't shut it down.
When the guys see hot pics like Mystique has and have no other options, well then they must take things in their own hands and I don't blame me errr them!Most likely caused by all you guys jerking off to the free escort ads and getting spunk all over your keyboards.

whatever it is, it's rather disheartening...I called and emailed the admin of that board and have yet to receive a reply...it could be that the domain name was not renewed however the guy that ran that board was building our website and now that domain name is gone as well...not even an "under construction"....since I have paid him, I guess it just goes to show that pooners are not the only ones who get ripped off
There's no need to censor the name of the board. It's TERB, which is PERB's parent board. In 2001, everything disappeared, and everyone had to re-register and start from scratch.
It seems to me that if the server bit the dust, the hosting company would have had it back up online by now. So either the data wasn't backed up and the board needs to be re-built from the ground up, or it's been decided to shut the board down. I'm sure Mr X is a member here, or even over at ****. While it's his right to do with the site as he wishes, it would be nice if he gave an explanation to those of us who were active members.

Sorry I just had to step in regarding the technical end of things. The domain name has not expired yet. It expires March 2009. Therefore that is not the issue. Most reputable hosting companies have built in redundancy for the sites they host ie. a server goes down, others in their server farm pick up the load and serve up the websites being hosted.
Seems to me that the Admin purchased the domain name and was hosting it on his/her own server. Very easy to do but if things go awry with that server downtime can be considerable. People usually host their own sites on a personal box to save money and when 24/7 uptime isn't crucial.
Anyway, I hope this helps. I would assume the site will return but the question is if past content was lost or not depending on what actually happened to the server in question ie. hard drive failure vs. power supply failure.

Did you know the developer at all? Having worked in the online industry for many years, I can't count how many times I've heard stories like yours. Best of luck.
hmm, you might need another web developer to work on your sites. Unfortunately I don't accept cash... you'd have to figure out another way to pay me......
If that were the case, he should have posted a notice that he was shutting the board down in a couple of days. It seems more likely he didn't pay his bills.
