InTheBum talked me into going to PNE and while im there i see burgers are something like 15.00 and pop is 5 or 6.00. I understand it wont be cheap going but common. What we saw was a bunch of people who didnt wanna pay for overpriced food,a few stupid shows, and lame prize home.

Well, L.A.G.:

For $16.80 at 7 - 11 I got a PNE ticket. Paid $13 bucks for a double vege curry and chai tea.
Then Joan Jett came on and gave me a $50 show for my $30 spent so far so I felt like I came out ahead this year.

The food doesn't even look good at the PNE! At least the Mini Donuts taste good and @ $2.50 a bag, they are not a rip off...

Wow LAG is so cheap.

Suck it up man, pick up your dumpster diving efforts and pocket a little extra cash to enjoy the PNE. After all it's only once a year.:D

Do what Sir Jim said, go when there's an awesome free act. i saw sheena easton and air supply in 2008, there were awesome and made the sting of the stupid cost of gate and food much more worth it. you get pretty close up.

Uncleg...LAG lives life by the motto, "A penny saved is a penny earned'! Or "A penny saved, is a penny I don't have to earn, at some shit job"!

It's amazing how much they jack the prices over the years. I know it's normal to increase prices, since with the inflation and CPI and etc, but I remember getting tacos there for like 2 bucks about 10 years back, and it's now 5 dollars! Most stuff at the PNE as increased about 250% in the last 10 years, that's about 9.6% of inflation annually! If the same increase happened with basic goods and groceries, we'd be talking about people rioting on the streets and overthrowing the government.

I myself have only been to the PNE once and that was 15 years ago...back then it did not seem overly expensive though I dont remember a lot of the details as the friend I went with dragged me straight to the beer garden and we got shitfaced LOL

The Calgary Stampede is pretty much the same type of thing with the exceptions of a massive parade and the rodeo....and of course it is bigger and far more expensive....$15 for the gate +$20-$25 for parking...deep fried oreos were $10 for 8 of them....corndogs are something like $8 and the list goes on....the rides can be enjoyed inexpensively by purchasing an unlimited pass...though the pass is only good for the rides that have been there for the past 30 years or so...all the good ones like reverse bungie jumping are not included and are expensive...all the midway games are either rigged or impossibly hard (though if you are a good dart player you can clean up) take in the rodeo/chuckwagons and the grandstand show and that costs a packet.

Bottom line...to take a gal on a date to the Stampede and enjoy & have a good time..eat and be entertained will run a guy $500-$600 with no sure bet she will put out....I myself dislike the Stampede and dont go....and I would especially like to give the person who came up with the idea of "mini parades" each day during the Stampede a good solid kick to the plums as they are more of a PIA than a 4 car pile-up on the Deerfoot Trail.

Note to self: stay away from the Deerfoot Trail. Get name of storm rider's Doctor, anybody that eats deep fried oreos and lives must have a good doc.

Ok...#1...the Deerfoot Tr is not that bad...far better than trying to escape past the Port Mann bridge during rush hour

#2....I have not seen a regular doctor in years...go to the chiropracter when needed and I get tested regularly....I must be pretty healthy though as I have not called in sick for work in 12 years...was tempted to when I had 6 broken ribs down my left side but shrugged it off...if it does not kill me it will make me stronger.
