Have a highschool friend who knocked up someone he's not that crazy about. This person comes from a very old fashion upbringing and he's marrying her. Just curious what your opinion is reguarding this situation. He asked for my opinion and i told him if he cant see himself with this woman for the next 18 yrs then he should ask her to get a abortion.

He should be there as a father and to contribute financially for sure. Marrying someone that you're not crazy about is a pretty sure fire way to give your kid a fucked up understanding of what a marriage is supposed to be. The cycle begins...

I would never ask someone to do that. Likewise I would never marry someone I got pregnant just because of that. i would however stay involved with the child and support the mother.

Totally agree! I myself am adopted and have been very fortunate with a charmed life. I have never had any desire to search for biological relatives. I appreciate and love the family that has accepted me and thankful for the chance at life I was given. I know there is justification for abortion and would not judge that decision, but adoption is a good option and can be one of the most generous gifts you could ever give.

Yeah, I would concur that this is strictly up to the girl. One of my best friends is in the same situation except she is the girl and she doesn't love the guy she is with. At this point, she is going to keep the baby and stick it through with him. I know it's going to be a recipe for disaster but sometimes people have to make the mistakes themselves.
Definitely, adoption is a good option. In one of my past relationships, my girlfriend and I both agreed we wanted the abortion. Do I regret it to this day, probably but we were young and foolish as they say. In the end, it's her body and it's up to her.

I've asked a girl to get an abortion. Several times. That was when I was younger and stupider. Now, if faced with a similar situation, it's the LAST thing I would do. The regrets will be with me the rest of my life. But I think it's an individual thing. People without conscience or empathy likely have no problem whatsoever with it.

No but if you do you can expect 25 to life. So should be the same for abortion. That fetus has rights and no one can take them away. Life begins at gestation. Abortion also fucks a woman up psychologically and with good reason. Who can live knowing they murdered their baby? Children are the greatest joy one could ever experience. If it was a mistake or even rape (God forbid) have that child and take care of it. If you need help from family you will get it. IF you have no one to help seek help through church groups or community organizations. There is always a way. Dr Ron Paul stated in his 40 year career as a physician he has never once run into a situation where abortion was needed to save a mother. It is very rare to ever need an abortion.
