Women who Read

One morning a husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out.

She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat.

He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am, what are you doing?"

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious ?")

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment, for all I know you could start at any moment, I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"For reading a book," she replies.

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her again.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment, for all I know you could start at any moment, I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the Game Warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment, for all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he left.

MORAL :

Never argue with a woman who reads .
It's likely she can also think .

Haha... What are you reading? I started 'The Golden Spruce' last night and have other books on the go. So far I really like John Vaillant's style of writing and he paints a stunning picture of this beautifully amazing province we live in.

I usually have several books on the go at once, because I get in the mood for something different. Often, one that I have read dozens of times before (Good Omens, anyone?) and something new. Genre is not nearly as important to me as is writing style, characterisation, and a strong author's/protagonist's/narrative voice. At the moment, I am into Quantico by Greg Bear (speculative espionage thriller); I have also just finished a spectacularly written novel called Left Neglected by (Dr.) Lisa Genova. This is an amazing story about a woman who takes her attention off the road briefly (both in a literal and figurative sense...)...and as a result her entire life and the lives of her family changes drastically. Aside from the neuroscience, which is a particular interest/passion of mine, it is a really well-crafted story with rich characters and a very relatable central premise...so wear your seatbelt, and leave the damn phone away!!! I have also recently finished Rules of Civility, which I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Fitzgerald but wishes his female characters had more balls...

I also always have several books that I am reading at the same time
Right now I have a book on how to eat paleo (I've been procastinating on this one)
-Insurgent from the Divergent book series.
-Doloris Causa from Carolyn Cardway (French book) a book about a woman who is a heavy self-masochist.
-Onze minutes (eleven minutes) from Paulo Coelho. A book about a Brazilian prostitute working in Geneva.

I've been reading a ton lately... Right now, I'm about halfeay through an excellent book called "Cockfident" by Celeste and Danielle. It's focus is men but it's incredibly relevant to both sexes. I think I would describe it as "The book you want your boyfriend/partner to have already read". Although, there's no time like the present ;)

I enjoyed Quantico. Bear wrote one more in that series (if two can be a series) and then seems to have dropped it. Too bad.

This is a very dangerous thread. Our government must not be allowed to learn that SPs and their clients read books. The contradiction between pre-conceptions and reality would traumatize Peter Mackay.

Oh my gosh! What a shocker! ;)

One of my biggest dreams is to have my own library in my dream house... One with high ceilings and ladders on rails to peruse the selection. Ahhh...

Pssst! I have a lot of books :)
You post this jokingly, but when I was in my late teens/early 20s, this was part of the rules me and my BFF had for going home with guys! Men who don't read anything but car magazines (or who count those as reading something intelligent) lose sex appeal. PS Emmy does have/read a lot of books. Not just car magazines, either ;)

Do coffee table art books count as smart people books?
