For Chards you might want to try Anarchist Mountain wine. It is quite smooth and on the sweet side, vinted in BC. interior.

For ice wines, depending on your budget, I'd recommend Inniskillin ice wine from Ontario. It's pricey though, but worth every drop.

Cedar Creek chardonnay from the Okanagan is great. The year 2000 vintage is especially excellent and should only cost you about $30.

Fortant Sauvigon Blanc has proven to be an excellant white wine from France. And it only cost $10 a bottle. --- Kev

Try some of the Chardonnays from Yakima Washington. They might end up being too dry for your taste, but they have a wonderful apple flavor, I presume because of all the apple orchards thereabouts. I forget the brands right now, but around $18 to $20 in that specialty store on Alberni. They got some grape leaves in the label.

Try Summerhill Gewurtraminer - Highly recommend it. It's available at some wine stores.....well worth it.

Hi Leilani, I think we have similar tastes in wines, since I like them a little sweet too.

Try some Piesporter (look in the German section), Sauvignon Blanc (most countries and wineries will have this because it's a really popular type), or White Zinfandel (also called rosé or blush wine -- mainly from California, but some of the Okanagan wineries have it as well).

If you prefer whites but decide to drink a red anyway, I've found that Shiraz (or Syrah) and Merlot goes down pretty smooth.

Enjoy :)

Summerhill's Ehrenfelser is also very good.

As well, try Quail's Gate Chenin Blanc, Cedar Creek's Ehrenfelser or Mission Hill's Senora Ranch Sauvignon Blanc.

There are numerous very good wines from the Okanagan - the problem is that many of the best wines are only available direct from the winery (the Liquor Control Board allows them only a limited number of listings, so they tend to list their high-volume ones and keep their low volume and sometimes much better wines for sale only through their own wine store). A quick weekend tour to the Okanagan and visits to Cedar Creek, Mission Hill, Burrowing Owl and a few others will allow you to sample many and pick the ones that you like best.

There's been quite a few posts inquiring about SPs in Kelowna and the Okanagan. Perhaps you could even mix pleasure and pleasure while there - or offer a special Okanagan wine tour rate? :)

I agree with eskie... Piesporter Treppchen would likely suit your taste.

Pooners Tours

I am one of those that have asked about some P***y to taste in the evening, after I have been tasting wines during the day. Put a package together. Hell, maybe I should. I used to own a wholesale travel firm.

Maybe start up a new one just for pooners

Of course, would have to check out the territory and the attractions. Hey, maybe that would be a business expense. Wouldn't it be great to have the IRS pay for a piece of A**.
