I did more research on it and found several things. One is that full immunity is not achieved until several days after getting the second shot according to the researchers. So if u still get infected before the second shot u are still fucked

The second thing I learned is that the researchers are unsure if those vaccinated are risky carriers of the virus (potential risk of transmitting to others within the first few days of vaccination)

My dad and I were having the most hilarious conversation a few days ago. He's like "imagine 20 million vaccinated Canadian's becoming weaponized carriers, the end of humanity" he phrased it way funnier tho ???

Any vaccination will provide a level of protection even before the second injection. You aren't fully protected, but neither are you unprotected.

There is no danger of spreading the virus from being vaccinated. Do some research - the vaccination doesn't carry any live virus, it activates your body's immune system to recognize the virus, and your body produces antibodies.

If people have underlying conditions, you can bet catching Covid will be a lot more dangerous than any vaccine.
Unless, for least one of reasons anyways, the person's underlying health conditions involves an overactive immune system that has gone rouge. The last thing I need is anything triggering an even stronger immune response in my body right now.

I think the reference was to the fact that the vaccine was shown to be effective in preventing people from getting ill, but it was not yet checked whether that also mean they do not transmit the virus. That is probably the expectation but professionals report on facts and not their expectations. That is also something we should know with time, not too far into the future.
You have to be infected to transmit it, so if they were protected from acquiring the virus, how could they transmit it? Or do you mean if someone acquired it between shots?

Here is a question....

50 people attend a reunion.....
25 test negative for the virus prior to attending
25 get the vaccine prior to attending

How many will get infected with covid......???????

As FB said above I also heard on the news today that they are not sure "YET" if being vaccinated
will also prevent spreading of the virus at the same time.

Time will definitely tell when the science proves out if this will be true or false.
So it may yet be some time before we find this out.
But thank christ there is at least vaccines available now. :):)

It's entirely possible to think that both sides have truth to their arguments, to understand that there is something dangerous and contagious going around that is causing multi-organ failure in many people. but, at the same time, to also be skeptical of a vaccine that was rushed to market, without anyone knowing long term safety and efficacy, that even a CEO of one of the main manufactures admits that even he doesn't know if it's effective. and also the fact the manufactures are making billions of dollars yet having zero liability with their products.

I want a solution to this problem. I want the pandemic to end just as much as everyone else, BUT this is a perfect storm for so much more to go wrong.

That is a terribly worded question that requires a lot of assumptions before an answer can even be presumed.

That is a terribly worded answer.
Nice mature response there.

Assumptions you have to make:
How many people in the reunion have COVID to begin with?
Of the 25 that tested negatively prior, how many of those were vaccinated?
Of the 25 that received the vaccine, how many of them had COVID to begin with?

And these are just the questions that I could think of immediately upon seeing your question.

I look forward to your contributions.

What about the new strain in the UK? Will the vaccinations protect you from the new strain of Covid?

Also people looking to travel when they get vaccinated; Its this mindset that spread the covid virus in the first place. Future travel could be restricted to prevent all human from obtaining the same background (baseline) viruses that could make everyone more suspectible to new viruses.

Apparently they are reporting the new version as 70% more infectious then the regular. If it keeps mutating and gaining strength we are in for a long haul, worth keeping an eye on how well the vaccine deals with it. 50 % of health professionals working with the epidemic are burning out and want to quit, could be a long winter.
