You will 100% be affected as sex tourism is part of World Cup draw. You got Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Belgium national teams and their fans so definitely they will be sampling local ladies and whoever handlers send in. The other confirmed national teams are Egypt and Qatar and so their fans are far less likely interested.
I expect all agencies (both Caucasian and Asian) to work extra hard to make money here in this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Certainly expecting Perb to be flooded with reco requests of all kinds.

These tourists? Where and how to you think they will sponge up their " escort " info ? Are they aware of PERB, agnecies, LL etc?
If escorts are what one seeks, then a simple google search or AI inquiry is all that is required.

It will probably bring some new talent out. Dating apps, sugar dating apps, escort sites, will have all kinds of new girls and traveling girls chasing the $$$. Have to balance out the man-on-man love sport that is soccer.

Field day for LL fakes.

Welcome to Scamcouver.

At least a failed escort booking will cost you less than a Fifa ticket. Most likely.

Just don’t order the natcho’s with extra cheese and caviar.

PERB is the first one to come up in a search for 'escort reviews.'
Tryst is pretty well recognised around the world, so pooners will use that to find indys and the search for intel will likely lead them here.

It comes down to the fact that the ladies are going to be very busy, perhaps even increasing their rates for the duration of the event.
Anyone with a condo and not planning to attend the carnage are going to make a killing renting them out.

You really think they are sending ladies in here?

I was downtown today and traffic was already a shit show. Just one giant parking lot from Chinatown to Homer to Drake. I think the opposite will happen - the steady regulars traveling downtown to poon will avoid DT for the month and the SPs down there will lose that revenue. I know I’m not going down there til after the WC is done.

This is not just a one answer, answer as it will effect us all differently, for some positively and for some negatively. I’m going to be seeing a concert downtown Vancouver during the cup, and can already see hotels & Airbnbs are already at astronomical rates & booked an Airbnb at ridiculously high rate, but hotels were even more expensive.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver may negatively affect sex workers, especially those who are more vulnerable, where there will be increased police presence, the loss of vital safety reports and harm reduction, displacement and gentrification, and talks of anti trafficking crackdowns, which could also affect independents too.

I think it will be a great idea for those who seek our services to make sure to see favourite providers so we stay busy, and to make sure to see reputable providers or to book through reputable agencies, and to use PERB tools that you have here.

You can also donate to pro SW organizations like PACE, SWAN, and WISH, that do a lot of work in helping with harm reduction, and supporting SWers, especially those who are more vulnerable. Helping out the community would be amazing, on top of booking us.

If agencies and escorts think the WC is going to be a windfall, they might be in for a rude awakening.
First, the exorbitant costs of getting here, staying here, eating and drinking here and tickets will eat up a lot of disposable cash.
Second - most sex tourists won't even seek out anything outside the down town core.
Third - The regular locals will probably avoid the down town.
Fourth - If rates are boosted to cash in on the WC, and stay up, it might hurt business in the long run.

The big winners are FIFA, a few hotels, some bars and restaurants, and maybe a few tour operators.
Big losers are the taxpayers.

I've noted this before but FIFA, IOC and similar organizations are well past their best use dates. Frankly hosting these mega events are stupid. $1B taxpayers money for what? To host some exclusive event that no taxpayer can afford? And given all the shit going on in the economies now, does anyone really believe there will be an economic windfall? Canada will be lucky to break even in all this. Downtown is a hassle to navigate, park etc at the best of time, add in all this stuff and I for one will not be anywhere near it. Will this affect the locals? Yes and not in a good way.

I know all this was planned a few years ago, but as the dumpster fire in the US has spread world wide, there must have been a time when someone *with intelligence* could have said whoa Nellie, lets put the brakes on all this.

You bring up a really valid point about the very high cost of staying downtown during the World Cup. As I mentioned I got an Airbnb during that time mainly for this concert I’m seeing (and some work) and the hotels and Airbnbs are at least 3 times as much as their usual rates. The costs of getting to and from Vancouver from other places will be more with gas prices being so high, too.

It may be better business for SWers, or the same or less, because of different variables that affect the World Cup right now.
