The Dos And Don'ts Of Reaching Out To A Sex Worker, As Told By Sex Workers
https://www.buzzfeed.com/jessiesage/how-to-reach-out-to-a-sex-worker

Simply common courtesy stuff.
Like making an appointment with your therapist or doctor; why would it be any different with a SP.
we aren't respected like other professionals because of the stigma surrounding the profession. about 1% of my inquiries turn into a booking, it's abysmal how we are treated by the majority. the more articles like this get published though, the better it'll get. thanks for sharing!

Wow, only 1%. That sucks—step it up guys!

I only call or text when I am serious and ready to book. Time wasters and wankers drag down the image of us legit pooners, and their disrespectful behaviour must be incredibly frustrating for the SP’s. Bad kharma too.

I’d say 60% of my inquiries turn into bookings, 20% timing didn’t work out, 20% no response from the SP. Sometimes that’s my bad if I didn’t check they had a recent ad up—might be travelling or something.

I am generally not a follower of Buzzfeed but this is an excellent article. A few things struck me reading it but first to Ms Beckett's note about only 1% of inquiries turn into a booking that means that 99% of the time is wasted reading, thinking about, replying etc to folks who are not doing business. THAT is a sobering statistic and frankly that makes me quite ashamed of the brotherhood for being such jackasses.

What jumped out at me in the article was "If you are emailing or texting a sex worker for the first time, this means that you have found their contact information on their website or ad. Along with that contact information, you will also find their rates and screening procedures. That is to say, you should have most of the information you need to understand the process." “Many escorts have a web presence,” says Love. The problem, however, is that “clients don’t read ads; they don’t read our websites.” Just as sex workers don’t want to drag simple information out of you — like your name and when you want to meet — we also don’t want to waste a bunch of time spoon-feeding you information that is readily accessible.

Those of us who take our pooning as a serious treat to ourselves know how to read the ads and if critical info is not there we will ask for it. But I have found in general this not reading or perhaps not understanding what has been read is endemic across all kinds of businesses. Just read the document! Just read my email! Did you not understand what I wrote in my text! It is so goddam frustrating when I have taken my time (this is business me writing here) to write a comprehensive note and the recipient scans it and then does not address what I have noted, asks what I just wrote and so on and so on ad nauseum. I seriously have doubts about the ancestry of a lot more people out there than I ever wanted. I can only imagine some of the crap texts, emails etc our SP's receive. :(

Good article, but it's like that in every business. I use to carve native art work down at the causeway in Victoria and probably 95% of my dealings with the public were dreamers and time wasters, incredibly rude people and cheap skates.
Same with back in Parksville, just out of high school, you couldn't beg, borrow or steal a job during the great recession of the early 80s. So my brother and I borrowed a couple grand off our dad and got into the firewood businesses. I will say some very loyal customers but again a lot of time wasting cheap skates calling you all the time. This was before call display and my phone was attached to my kitchen wall.

I've done some freelance art and I find dealing with clients to be incredibly frustrating, to the point of not wanting to do it. Imagining that experience, with the additional factors of having sex with a client, the stigma around the industry and the risk of danger that comes from both those aspects, makes me determined to be as good a client as I can.

I have long thought that the reference to "sex work" while technically accurate in most cases (not everyone chooses to have sex) reduces the profession to a narrow view point. It is as much a mental health and well being service for many. For others it represents a fantasy. Focusing more on the benefits provided rather than the physical act might lead to an improvement. Of course, thousands of years of history make my hope rather unlikely.

I agree the profession should not be seen in a narrow sense. After all they combine the skills of psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, teachers, confidantes, and comedians to name but a few.

And that's a tragic fucking shame. For my part, I absolutely adore sex workers! There are some fascinating women out there, and hey, they have a tendency to be hot and have sex with me! I think all you ladies ( meaning the ones who do it well, not scammers of course ) are angels from heaven. And in my personal life, I'm not particularly "woke" but I don't tolerate people around me talking shit about sex workers either.
