your mom says hi.
man looking back on it now i really wish they would have voted john mccain leader of the republicans. at least that man has a grain of sense. also having been in a war himself(unlike bush)i really doubt he would have taken the u.s. to war without just cause.

i for one hope he runs for leadership again.

Bush is goofy at best, an idot at worst.

I agree with Smackyo, McKain should have been the Republican nominee. He would have had far better sense than Bush.

Interesting thread

I agree, John McCain would have made a vastly superior president than GWB. If McCain was president right now I doubt you would see anywhere near the level of divisiveness and animosity that currently exists between Democrats and Republicans. Even though I prefer Democrats to Republicans, John McCain is at least someone who deserves respect and wouldn't be an embarrasment to the position of POTUS.

GWB is a cancer who has infected the United States. The results of this cancer can be seen in the divisiveness that exists in the US right now. Bush's move to the extreme right and his scorched earth policy when dealing with those with different views than his own has left no middle ground which the Democrats and Republicans can share.

Well, we can thank Bush & Rove for Mccain's non-presidency.
They destroyed him with a slanderous whispering campaign on the eve of the 2000 South Carolina primary, thus destroying his campaign and saving bush from nomination defeat.

hhhhhmmmm well rudy's better then bush thats for sure. he gained a lot of juice after 9-11, but his policies before that event were border line facist to say the least. in my opinion anyway. but he does have strong points which is more then what i can say for the current commander and chief.

for real though, although i am a liberal minded individual i wouldn't totally discount voting for a mccain/powel administration. dispite the fact that he's a republican and i may not agree with all his policies i think i could live with them.

mccain is the real "compassionate conservative" not bush.

what if?

OK - could this happen?

I know you can only be prez for 8 years - thank god. But what if Jeb was POTUS - could "dubya" be VPOTUS? Let's hope not.

McCain and Guiliani would be one hell of a ticket!

I have to agree with you on that, but his party is so F***ed up by the Religious Right that is composes the majority of the Republican Party. These freaks decided to endorse Bush. Therefore, McCain got the shaft.

As much as I like them both, I don't know if I will ever endorse the Republican Party after all the crap done by Dubya's administration.

I don't think Guillani is so great. He's just another opportunist. Just because he was mayor of NY when 911 happened he was made out as a "hero". I don't think his performance was anything better than what could have been done by any mortal in that position.

Believe it or not, he actually did something for NYC. He really cleaned it out during his long term as mayor. He certainly straightened out the messups that previous mayors (Koch and Dinkins) did.

While I like McCain I feel he is the Republican equivalent of Howard Dean. Over the short term he looks like a great choice but over the long haul he starts to get a little wacko. His performance in previous primary seasons always started out well but as the pressure wore on his "off the cuff" remarks started to get a little bizarre.

Don't think he is cool headed enough to be President but given that almost every President since Ike has been something of a nutbar I guess, sure, why not...

Yeah he turned the fabled Times Square with all it's sleaze and sex into a 360 degree advertisement for the most banal that corporate America has to offer.
