During the reg season the sisters can cycle around with no problem but the playoffs they arent allowed to. We're stuck with the players we have and cant upgrade for yrs cause of the luongo contract. Wtf do we need this overpaid goalie? By the way i did put down 20.00 on the hawks winning this game cause it's a good bet.

Luongo is average at best...

Definately overpaid, and as Tony G. stated in the papers, Lu has hands of stumps! LOL

if the Canucks didn't sign him this town would have went crazy. He had max bargining power at the time and he used it. At the end of the day what can ya do? He won't be giving the money back, I can guarantee that;)

....been upset if Luongo didn't resign; I've been watching NHL long enough that by 32 yrs old, if a goalie hasn't won jack shit (before the gold medal, big deal), forget about him. He will never be a Roy, Hasek or Brodeur -- IN THAT ORDER!!!

Our Bobby dink will cost us $7 million & wasted cap room....

Next yr he'll make 10 mill and hasnt ever won a vezina.....we have him till around 2018. You better start liking the guy more cause he's not going to be traded anywhere.

Yep. The Sedins (and others) might perform well during regular season, but in the playoffs it's usually the same story; I don't know why we expect any different this year.

Enough playoff series' over the past 10 yrs have shown that winning the scoring title/Hart trophy/President's trophy etc. don't mean anything in the playoffs; it's all about matchups and teams adjusting their level/style of play well enough to compete.

Guess all the "experts" on TSN who said "the Canucks finally have a goalie" and congratulated Gillis for keeping him, have no idea what they are talking about either. People make mistakes and the one thing Pro sports need to do and I have been saying this FOREVER......................................................Get rid of GUARANTEED contracts.

Niemi won game two and game three by keeping them in the game in the first period, just as Luongo kept us in the game in the first period of game one to allow us to win. After three games it's Niemi 2, Luongo 1, it's that simple.

The Canucks might not even be in the second round if it wasn't for the key saves that Luongo made in game four and game six of the L.A. series.

Totally agree! Teams goto the Cup finals typically have the following ingredients:

skill Fwd- Canucks have them
grit and mental toughness - remains to be seen, so far NO!
solid Defense Core - NOOO! think about the 94' roster, Murzen,Brown,Dirk,Didick,Hedican,Lumme...

If this was the 94 team, Lu would not be pushed around like a grade school kid.Byfungal would be picking up his teeth on the ice.Gino or Antoski would make sure of that.

The Sedins are the same style players as last year, i don't know why people expect them to be different in the playoff this year.

This Canuck team is OK based the roster, even if they make it pass this round(somehow?!), they will not pass the sharks/detroit.However, it is not their fault since the team talent/size isn't there to begin with.

Lmao you have the nerve of saying our defense is overpaid and useless.....luongo isnt? It's never luongos fault huh? Especially when you consider he's getting 10 mill next yr and i just dont see the value. I cant think of a goalie who's won no vezina and is making 8-10 mill a season. Imagine if this clown has actually won something.....he'll probably be asking for 20 mill a season. Also what's the deal with this clown luongo losing his stick every game?

Every forum in this fucking city.. Everybodies all over Luongo... Do you think for a fucking minute Schnieder or Raycroft could have gotten us here.. if you do then your an F'ing idiot.

Same answer on every page... it's not Luongo it's the fucking horrible defence in front of him. The forwards don't skate, don't cover don't pick up their checks. Then dive everywhere because

they are out of position and panicking.

Our defence past 2 guys (erhoff and Edler) is overpaid and HORRIBLE. they can't box out guys from the crease, they can't make a first pass to save their fucking lives... but yet some the shallow end of the gene pool.. It's Luongo's fault... Just don't believe some people. Give your heads a fucking shake...

I gotta admit I love it when the Canucks lose from one stand point. Makes for great talk radio because everyone goes bonkers like it really matters. I do get some good chuckles out of it. Relax people, it's a game of over paid athletes playing a game. Look at BadgerJohn up there as a perfect example. It's not Lou it's the defence....Lou is the highest paid goaltender in the league, should be a game changer and at least in the Vezina discussion.....he wasn't even close. if you want to be the highest paid goalie (which he did and is) then you are accountable. He hasn't lived up to his end of the bargin and he never will. Hey it's life......he will still be cashing his pay cheque and having a great summer while Canuck Nation debates away. They don't give a sh*t!!! I use Lou as an example.....it's 90% of them.

So my point being, relax...........they are gonna win or lose and at the end of the day, it won't change your life one bit.

I'd rather go to a victory party than a wake.

Some might consider your wake a reason to party :p

I was merely implying, people should lighten up and not treat hockey like it's life or death.

Canucks fans should just face reality that our team just isn't good enough to beat the Hawks. So why stress over the fact that this year is going to be any different. Luongo is good but never GREAT (who cares if he doesn't win a Stanley cup, he will still cash his millions thanks to Gillis)

"Byfungal" .... what an awesome performance ... a hat-trick (this guy was playing as a defenceman in Round 1 against Nashville when Quennville doesn't know where to play him) I think Gillis should really consider trading for this guy next year, just incase they meet the Hawks again. Don't worry Canucks fans, we will win one more game then its lights out. (Hawks in 6 games)

It wouldn't matter who we had here in Vancouver. This town is the dead zone for goalies, it's a fucking black hole here, why because people/ fans don't understand the position. They see a red light go on and automatically it's the goalies fault.. Is it a demading position yes, does everybody play it no..
"Lou is the highest paid goaltender in the league, should be a game changer and at least in the Vezina discussion.....he wasn't even close. if you want to be the highest paid goalie (which he did and is) then you are accountable."

Instead of giving us a resume just stick to this and get back to me. You almost sound like a goalie named Lou.....it's everybodies fault except his. No his defence isn't top shelf and the Canucks havent been back checking well. The fact of the matter is Lou is letting in goals that great goalies stop. He has been fighting the puck and having control issues. Hell he had one game where he was the leading scorer, just on his own net. I'm not saying Lou is the entire reason they are losing but you can't tell me he's one of the top guys at his position right now. If you can, whoever your scouting for should fire you. Why? because you're not being objective and are being a fan.

"This town is a dead zone for goalies" Let's have a look at that vast sweeping statement( again why I would fire you), you are taking a commonly thrown around phrase and running with it(not being objective) The goalies we have had in this town have all been second rate, with the exception of a few. Name me one goalie we've had leave town, do well somewhere else and have us wishing we'd never let them go(good luck with that)?

The "dead zone for goalies" has nothing to do with Lou's inability to be tops in his position and has everything to do with Lou. Funny, objective guys on TV have no problem pointing this out yet you take exception to it.

Jebus you guys! Calgary & Edmonton would LOVE to be arguing about how bad their goalie (defense, center, etc) is in the second round of the playoffs... LOL
