especially late at night and my speakers are on
unexpected sounds from websites (esp shitty midi music) is one of my bigger pet peeves.....even going to an SP's site hearing something that would have been more fitting on a late 70's video game doesn't motivate me to see you

That's ringing, not drumming.

No kidding! That's why I started this thread.

Not only that, if you click on her name, you can't even get rid of the sound by hitting the "Back" button. You have to log out of PERB!! Sometimes, I even have to close my browser altogether!

Can't you just turn the volume knob down?

Couldn't you just press the pause button on her vid to stop the sound?
It wasn't anything more than this:

<object width="170" height="140"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C81riIa5T04"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/C81riIa5T04" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="170" height="140"></embed></object>

Yes, but it was catching everyone by surprise. It came on in every thread where she had posted, whether or nor she started the thread, so it was unpredictable. Once it started playing, you couldn't stop it, even by going to another web page. Why should we have to turn the sound down until we log off because of that?

Anyway, Moderator killed her signature, so the problem's solved.

Then you also eliminate the sounds you want to hear as well. I browse PERB when I'm running other programs, I don't want to eliminate the sounds from other programs just so I don't have to listen to nuisence noise.
