What a joke
you claim to be an olympic level athlete and a few hours of walking and maybe a little of that time carrying a flag tires you out ?
I could carry the flag and jog 10 kms with it and still wake up the next day fresh as a daisy.
And i do not claim to be an olympic athlete.
I say pull all their funding, and let them attend the olympics as independants if they want to shit on the flag.
What a bunch of pathetic losers...an elite athlete would not even consider a few hours of walking , standing and even some running a warm up IMHO.
Before last years winter triathlon i competed in, i downhill skied all day, and then just did a short run that night of only about 5 kms.
then i competed the next day and took 2nd in the mens solo event.
Then that night i was out dancing till midnight, and the next day i jogged the 12 kms to my office.
i felt great and was not even stiff.
And again i am not an olympic athlete.
if i was training for the olympics i would be in a lot better shape than i am i am sure.
an olympic athlete again IMHO should be able to go for a 20 km run, and need maybe at most 8 hours recovery time to be fine.
its not like during the ceremony's they have to run as hard as they can for 40 kms or anything.
its a frigging ceremony.
2 weekends ago i was in a 3 day karate tournament....i sparred for 6 hours the day before and ran 12 kms the day before as well...just to get myself moving for the competition....and i bet you every other black belt there did the same thing.
if you sit around for a couple days before the competition you are screwed.
may as well eat 5 bigmacs and supersize the fries to
