Hard to say at this point. There will probably be more of an indication within the next month or so. I'm leaning toward Obama, but who knows.

I think the race is Obama's to lose. Unless Bill & Hillary work behind the scenes to scuttle his chances to suit their own ambitions.

Jeb Bush in 2012!!!

I'm hoping in November my belief that John McCain will be elected president is proved wrong, but I doubt it.

Americans are a short sighted, simple minded folk where religion and fear mongering have become the two greatest factors in electing a government.

Barack Obama wont lose the election for any one reason. But the combination of smears on his character (ethnicity, and unfounded questions on his religious beliefs ), Clinton supporter animosity, and the "Cult of Obama" created by the media have already set the pieces in motion.

Good old fashioned american stupidity will hand the election to McCain.

I will can't understand the sway held by the Clinton's. What did Bill Clinton accomplish as president?

I'd like to think we live in world where a man or womans character, values, accomplishments, and actions are how he or she is judged.

But then that's just a bunch of hippy peace nick garbage...

Use Sarah Palen's Vogue cover as a campaign poster and McCain has it in the bag.:p

McCain, unfortunately. Americans would rather hold to the status quo, even if it leads them to oblivion. I hope I'm proved wrong.

On a side note, Michelle Obama is hot!

When asked the same question by a american in AZ a few months ago. The US is ready to accept a woman pres, but not a black. Just travel in the south awhile. Racism is alive and strong in the south. When the democrats elected Obama they lost all chance of winning.

I don't understand this if Obama is the clear winner of the Democrats. Why is Clinton still there?

Obama is heading for change and America is looking for change. So it's change it is. A first newbie, black President.

Because the Clinton's still have a lot of political clout. While they have supported Obama in public, some reports still have Bill knocking him in private. If if they campaign for him, what they do behind the scene can still cause Obama grief, and I believe they could still cost him the election considering how tight it is. If Obama loses the election, then Hillary can run again next go round probably against Palin, because I doubt McCain goes two terms.

Barack Obama for 8 years

By November, Barack Obama and Joe Biden will win by a landslide. The American people will vote for things that are important to them like the economy and IRAQ and not race or sex of the candidate.

2 million homes foreclosed, hundred of thousands losing their jobs locally and through outsourcing, billions spent for the war in IRAQ monthly while the latter recently reported a surplus of $ 80 Billion, no healthcare, and tax breaks for the chosen few. An America in debt of the trillions where the newly born is already in debt by about US$ 30,000.

McCain's strategists did well in choosing a female VP to get the Hillary votes but it won't be enough. The Republican PR dobermans will throw everything at Obama ( including the sink ) in the coming months but it won't be enough as well.

Big Oil and the Defense industry will give way to technology ( Silicon Valley ) and alternative energy in the new administration.

Obama has the organization and funding to win this election. He even raised more money than Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Campaign. Bill Clinton is probably one of the best fundraisers in the world.

I do not often post in the longe... I cum here for the reviews.....

But I could not restrain myself -

I am an American.
Come Nov I get to actually cast my vote for the next POTUS.

Last March I had decided my vote was Obama. He needed to beat Hilary, but I was confident he could.

As the primaries went on for weeks, and Hilary brought up the negatives about Obama, I became doubtful. Both Hilary and Bill said, Obama is not ready to be POTUS. I believe them, he is not.

So I moved from an Obama supporter to undecided. I do not like McCain he is not a conservative, but he is a maverick and he is willing to take on the GOP or the DEMS. I like that even though I hate his amnesty for illegals.

He then choose Palin and he sent a message that his maverick approach was more than just words.

Sarah Palin is an ass kicker. She is a member of the NRA. She went up against the GOP establishment is Alaska and won. She turned down the "bridge to nowhere". I like this lady. I wish she was also an SP, but alas.

The left wing media immediately attacks her. Which is a signal to me she is OK.

The left attack her for not aborting her handicap child. I thought woman had " a right to choose".

Then the left wing nuts attacked her 17 year old daughter with the main stream media close behind.

That made up my mind. I went from an Obama supporter to an undecided, to a McCain./Palin supporter. All within 6 months.

If women really want to have equality. If women really want to be able to run for office or advance her career without questioning her role as a mother, then this is your time. If woman do not stand up for Sarah as she is being attacked, then I never again want to hear about the womans movement.

I am not saying woman need to vote for her. I am saying they need to tell the media to focus on her policies, not her children.

It would be kind of cool to have a hottie as VP. remember the stir Margret Trudeau made when she was Canada's first lady?

my prediction is a southern redneck is going to blow Obama's brains out before the ballots are cast.
I sure hope you're wrong. I don't recall the details of how well equipped they were, but they had a plan that involved a sniper rifle.

This is the crux of your argument.....
Pretty much...... what a refreshing change to get a woman in the WH. maybe this is the year we break our 225 year exclusive old white mens club they call the White House.

In fact if McCain wins this time he will not run again.

That would clear the way for a Palin vs Hilary and we would finally get into the 20th century (yes I know it is the 21st century) and have a female President.

I never thought of that.
Instead of a debate they could have a cat fight.

PS> VV is in 3rd place. Way to go!

Wow, now that would be some fight. Both of them are tough broads. I wonder if Palin would bring her AK47 :D

And if VV where thrown into the mix, you could sell tickets to that event. I want front row center.

Reply to Devils Advocate..... McBraindead and Obummer Both Suck

My reply is to "Devil's Advocate"- As an American, I am offended by your attempt to smear your neighbors to the south by attempting to characterize all of us as "short sighted simple minded folk." The sad truth of the matter is that we don't HAVE Presidential elections in my country.:D You are not witnessing an election, you are witnessing a form of high drama that we're all supposed to THINK is an election. The reality is that the whole scam is decided long before the "voting booths" open.:D The "winner" was decided at the Bilderberg meeting held earlier this year in Chantilly, Virginia and whichever of the two despicable dirtbags who are "running" was preselected to be our next dictator will be inserted via computer programmers who rig the black box voting machines that decide our so called "elections." See http://www.blackboxvoting.org/

No one in their right mind (especially if they're Canadian) would want either McBraindead or OBummer to be inserted because both terminal pieces of shit are equally controlled by the shadow government, and they're both equally committed to the total destruction of Canada, the US and Mexico as nations as they're both totally on board with the creation of a North American Union patterned after the EU, which is in fact a dictatorship. To get better understanding of what I'm saying to go http://www.stopthenorthamericanunion.com/ and I strongly recommend you join the Canadian Action Party, because its the only political party in Canada thats telling you the TRUTH about whats REALLY going on beyond the mainstream news spin when it comes to the effort to destroy your country and force you into a North American Union. See www.canadianactionparty.ca:D Although I'm not a Canadian, I am a member. :) The only person who any of us can trust to be the next President of the US is Ron Paul, but he has been blackballed and railroaded in every way so has no chance of being inserted by the CIA which hates his guts as does the Republican Party which won't even let him set foot inside their Convention in Minneapolis, so he just told 'em all to FORK OFF and held his OWN convention which was a packed house, I saw it on C-span this evening. His message of freedom will live on long after this charade of an "election" is over. The only reason they go through all this hoopla of pretending an election is going on is that its a CIA containment exercise so this pressure cooker doesn't explode because they haven't disarmed us yet---- they'll try doing that when the banks fail and martial law comes down and judging from the direction things are going in, that could come at any time.

Lets see:

1) Republicans invaded Iraq, lied to their own people, it cost thousands of American casualities, and trillions of dollars. They are spending $350 million dollars a day, and counting.

2) The US is in such a financial mess. Their debt (in the hundreds of trillions) is so severe, that some of their social programs like old age pensions may collapse because the government won't have the money to pay for it. And when you borrow, you still have the pay the interest, therefore they can't just borrow themselves out of it. This may happen as early as 15 years from now.

3) Tax cuts to the richest americans and corporations have left the government dry. This further added to the debt crisis, while average Americans work jobs at low pay.

4) US subprime mortgage crisis. Deregulation by Bush & Co to favour the banks led to this. Now millions of Americans have lost their homes and are bankrupt.

5) The US continues to bleed jobs. They lost 600,000 jobs this year, many in the manufacturing sector, which were good paying union jobs.

I can't believe it is even a race.

I can't believe it is even a race.
It is a race because the Republicans are canny. They never underestimate what Americans will believe. You listed the "issues" -- if it was about the issues, the Republicans wouldn't have a chance. Instead, to win they have to appeal to the uneducated "swing voters" the pundits keep referring to:

- make intelligence a suspect quality. Them smart educated people are trying to pull one over on us; they are elitist intellectual snobs who don't understand the real problems us regular people face.

- appeal to the crazies: those other guys don't have faith in God like we do. They will have aborted fetuses littering the street and gays running all over the place. They'll take away our guns, too, dangit!

- run against themselves. Even though they have been in charge for most of the last decades, the economic conditions are the fault of them liberals. Even though the gdp rises under Democratic governments and the budgets get under control, somehow they can't manage government like we can. Overlook the fact that you have been managing things -- run against yourselves and promise to "change."

- promote the myth that "Big government" is bad and "deregulation" is good. Even though taking power from government agencies has been responsible for everything from the financial crises to the inept response to Katrina (in that case by appointing incompetent cronies to FEMA), we know how to organize things.

- We will lower taxes! Those other guys will raise them. Make sure to keep referring to the theory that lower taxes for rich folk makes more jobs (even though it doesn't work). Don't refer to the huge debt built up by continuing to spend without having the funds to pay for it.

- that using threats and bullying is the way to run foreign policy. Diplomacy is for wimps. It doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks. Foreign ideas in general are suspect. "Cosmopolitan" is a bad, scary thing to be.

- appeal to some never-existing past where hard work, rugged individualism, and faith in religion is all you need to succeed. If it hasn't worked for you, you're a whiner or freeloader, or....

- make your opponents' strengths out to be weaknesses. That guy sure can talk and rile up a crowd -- it must be all talk then. We want barely articulate guys that don't seem to be "better" than us.

- use misdirection. "9/11!" "Support our troops!" "God Bless America!"

Granted: John McClain and Sarah Palin are not George Bush and Dick Cheney, and would be an improvement in the Executive Branch. He is not a wingnut Christian; she is, but is not part of the cabal responsible for the current situation. They are not, however, agents of change. The policies are the same as the current ones.

Obama is also part of the Democratic machine, and I don't believe for a minute that he will (or could) accomplish the things he says he will. But sometimes you just have to hope, and anybody that doubts his leadership skills just has to see how he and his organization have outsmarted everyone to put a black man this close to the Presidency. They plotted around every setback and won the nomination like they were playing the biggest chess game in the world. Maybe, just maybe, they can use the same skills to actually change things.
