I just saw it and thought it was excellent.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't know the story going in- not a lot of surprises.

As for the changed ending, the purists will be POd because the squid is missing but I like the new ending better. It just works better for me. (I always thought the extra-dimensional squid was a dumb idea and it was always the weakest part of the original story for me.)

They managed to hit all the important points of the graphic novel and will plenty was missing I didn't really miss it. Almost slavishly faithful but that isn't neccesarily a bad thing.

(And MAlin Ackerman naked was an unexpected bonus as well ;) )

When I originally heard the ending had been changed, I was a little concerned. The ending was one of the things that I had really liked about it and thought it was extremely memorable. But, at the risk of some day being punched in the face by Alan Moore for admitting this, I have to agree with you. The film's ending actually fits the story better. It's still very faithful to the intent but seems to intrinsically come out of the story and characters in a way that makes more sense.

I was very impressed by the movie!

Director's Cut on DVD and Blu-Ray

I bought the Director's Cut Blu-Ray when it was released on Tuesday and have watched it and many of the bonus features over the past couple of days. The Director's cut is now just over 3 hours long with credits. I can certainly see why that footage was cut for the theatrical release. It doesn't exactly keep the story moving forward but it does add to the depth of what is primarily a character study anyway. And it does give a few of the tertiary characters from the graphic novel a little more screen time, which is a nice touch. And one added scene is actually quite poignant. I think I may have enjoyed the repeat viewing even more than when I watched it the first time.

The Watchmen

I found this movie to be a bit too long and difficult to follow especially near the end....but there were some cool special affects....!!

Butterflies are not as delicious and nourishing as donairs. Hermann Rorschach had donairs in mind when he created these inkblots.
But wasn't it Freud who said something like, "Sometimes a donair is just a donair."? :D

Edit: No fair! You edited! :D

I just watched it and thought it was brilliant. However, I could've done without all the hanky panky between the owl guy and the hot chick.

And who would've guessed Rorshach was a ginger?

Rorshach is the best character in the whole movie. the most interesting and the most bad ass. the Night Owl dude hmm if u remember him in Phantom of the Opera you'll see he's not that cool and the only characters that actually had any real power was Ozy and Dr Manhattan. the rest were just normal people in costumes. but as far as the story goes and the whole bit I enjoyed the movie its a bit long but i really liked it and the soundtrack that went along with it too sounded good to me. but the best part of the movie was Rorshach in prison.

There is another movie out there that does suck balls called Franklyn its really lame and the main character is a Rorshach rip off.
