Thanks, Crumb-----for throwing out this crumb of information that when you have a party that has more elected members than the 2 opposition parties combined, it's called a majority government.... Wow, I'm constantly amazed by the things I learn on here.---maybe some day soon somebody will tell me what and where Ottawa is ..this is why it's called a majority government (despite being voted in with less than 40% of the vote) and this bill being passed was a foregone conclusion.
minority govs may be slow as fuck, but at least they're more balanced most times.
But, I don't think your mathematical information is quite right......I'm quite good at math. because I took a lot of it at school, particular in grade 6, all three years of it.
So, I don't agree with your '40% of the vote'.
Now, stay with me here Crumb, - you can look at your porn later - , and I'll try to dissect this in laymen's terms.
There are 308 MPs, so the maximum votes that are possible is 308.----- Lets just assume for a minute that all of them did vote. So there were 156 yes votes, which,
with the aid of my trusty Chinese Abacus, comes out to 50.4% of the votes.
But because 28 MPs didn't vote - leaving 280 that actually voted - if we slide those little round 'thingies' around on the Abacus, - it tells me that 56% of the voters voted it in - (156 of 280)
So, Crumb, no matter which scenario you want to use, it was at least just over 50% that voted it in.------ unless of course I should have taken a couple more years of grade 6 math.
Keep smiling.
