I suppose this would be very Politically Incorrect in today’s Vancouver but back in the day this Cop really walked and enforced his Beat!

I wished we still had cops like him today. There would be a lot less nastiness going on in the streets
with cops who would earn their pay the way he did and took pride in his work.
Excellent post Mr motorscooter I remember seeing that doc many years ago. I love that
'67 Pontiac Parisienne they showed parked on the street. Had one myself.
That was the best drive in movie car you could get IMO as it had a back seat
the size of a dumptruck, and came in quite handy when cruising the low and mid track. lol!

Politically correct was unheard of in the 1970's. Police were given a carte blanche way of dealing with any troublemakers in their area.
It was common place for some rough justice to be applied with 'trouble makers' in their area. Perhaps the most flagrant abuse of police authority happened in Stanley Park with several officers laying a beating on drug dealers from the Granville strip. Word is they were told to clean up the mess in the area.

There was plenty of action in Vancouver in the later 60's early 70's, Mayor Tom Terrific really went after the street people. I remember the Gastown riots where cops on horseback beat everyone including tourists during a Marijuna smoke-in. That caused so much shit the cops threw a make-up party a couple weeks later that had live bands at a couple Gastown intersections. Everyone came down and toked it up even blowing smoke into cops faces, that was actually a really good bash. There is a vid at the bottom of this arcticle that shows the mayor and his position in the issue, he would go nuts if he saw what was happening on the City's streets now!
