Which is worse...

1) The Bertuzzi attack. Big man subjects smaller man to violent, premeditated, retribution for a questionable, at best, hit on best player/friend. Resulting pile-on breaks smaller man's neck. Suspended indefinitely and charges laid. My opinion is Bettman should be fired for how he mishandled Moores initial hit, which was more of a cheap shot on a superstar in a vulnerable position. Gotta protect the stars or who will pay to watch a team/league full of Moores.

2) Svend Robinson "pocketing" a $60k ring. Trusted, "champion for the small guy/special interest", elected official steals jewellery for his boyfriend in a premeditated theft. Resulting charges and court date exposes two tiered justice system. Does everybody get one "freebee" now? My opinion is Svend's a thieving cocksucker. He's admitted he stole it and...well...he is a cocksucker.

3) "Professional" baseball player chucks chair at fans breaking a gals nose. Player and team complain about verbal harassment and use it as justification. Sticks and stones. Charged BUT no immediate suspension like example #1. MLB really respects the paying public, eh. My opinion is MLB and Bud Selig are scumbags and shame on then and shame on CNN and the U.S. networks for not playing it to death like the Bertuzzi incident.

Okay, if I rated which is worse I'd go with door number 2, with numbers 1 and 3 tied for a disgraceful second.

1. The Bertuzzi hit was not so far from accepted practice within the subculture of the NHL. He's being fucked over by the NHL and the media.

2. Two-tier justice system? It's a myth. If any of us had done the same thing as Svend Robinson under the exact same circumstances, we'd probably get the same sentence. If you doubt it, do some research on it. All court proceedings are a matter of public record.

3. Throwing a chair at someone because he said you suck is not justified in any way. Truth is, the player probably does suck. Baseball is not a real sport anyways, it's just a game. By far worse than the other two.

Baseball is not a "real sport"? You degrade your otherwise accurate and precise opinions. Bert was railroaded as far as the accepted practice applies, even though I don't agree with them all. Svend is just a bonehead. Baseball, however, is not only a real sport, but is very popular worldwide. Japan, Hispanola, Mexico, not to mention the US. Look at European Football. It's huge worldwide but not popular in particular regions. That doesn't mean it's not a "real sport". My 0.02. HM

watching a bunch of steroid bloated millionaires standing around chewing chaw and playing with what is left of their insignificant steroid reduced crotches is not a sport ...

i do live next to a park where kids play baseball and the way they play it is still a sport ... watching how the Japanese play is awesome as well ...

should have made that distinction ...

The all-time hero of baseball was a three hundred pound tub of fat with a drinking problem and close to every venereal disease known at the time. If you can honestly tell me that you think Babe Ruth was an athlete, I'll admit that baseball is a real sport. Checkers is a game, not a sport. That doesn't mean it can't be fun to play, though.

Nevermind the salaries...Svend gets to keep his gold plated pension...and there is something wrong with that.

I can't believe MLB hasn't suspended the guy yet...at least I don't think they have.

First of all, MPs don't get paid that much. Second of all, Svend Robinson was a member of parliament for over twenty-five years, during which time he more than qualified for his pension. Let's say you did something illegal, for example like engaging in illegal prostitution, and you got fired, which Svend Robinson never was, would you think it justified that you also lost accrued pension benefits from your entire length of service? Give your head a shake.

BIG difference, IMO. Elected officials should be held to a much higher standard than the average guy or ones that happen to play sports for a living. These are society's so-called "leaders" and they influence laws and policy. If MPs don't get paid that much, then it just shows how much he chose this path as a "leader" and all the more reason why the standard should be set high. The average person could very well be doing some time, albeit somewhat minimal, but time nonetheless.

I guess I'm still seething from hearing Chretien's pension being $150k or so per year. This is unjustifiable, no private pension plan comes anywhere close, and CPP is minimal. Shake my head? You bet, shake my head in shame for our country and how the Robinsons and Chretiens of the world have raped and ruined it.

Look into the private pension plans that top company executives and managers get. They dwarf what MPs get. Chretien wasn't running some little corner shop, he was running a G8 industrialised country. Whether you approve of the job he did, he was elected to do it by the people over and over again. If you want to fuck them all out of their pensions and you expect them all to be saints, too, who do you think will accept the job? Nobody.

IMO you can't compare private business to public office. Isn't public service supposed to be about serving the public? I don't see how fat pensions, sliding grants/dough to friends and cronies (sponsorship scandal?), and cutting back social services to pay for it all, is serving the public. If it's a business decision to run for office or they're in it for the money and influence peddling, it's wrong and they should just stay in the private sector.

This is wayyy off topic. I still believe Svend was by far the worst of the three!

Baseball the worse.

Chair throwing.

Hockey players don't throw sticks or their skates into the fans at GM Place. Only baseball has these throwers.

Frank Fransisco throwing the chair into the stands was shocking.

I couldn't help noticing that he's losing a lot of curve with that chair. He's just not snapping off his chair throws like he used to.

He needs to spend the offseason working on his grip, or hecklers will continue to exploit him.
