Why is a moped like a fat girlfriend?

She may be fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you with her.

Nothing wrong with mopeds.
I have had several Harley and a few Jap bikes.
Ride whatever you want.

Sym are actually very high quality.
My Dad has had his for years and it has been problem free. He bought it based on a neighbor who had one, plus reading many reviews of their outstanding quality.
With basic maintenance they will go well past 100,000 kms with no problems.
Google reviews on them and start reading. A bike review sight actually said they are a lot like a Honda...but better!
After 5 or 6 years my Dad still loves his. I've gone to visit and ridden it several times, and am very impressed.

I commuted downtown on a Sportster fo years.
It cost ten bucks a week in gas as long as I rode carefully.
And the boss was a motorcycle guy so we had a parking pad just for bikes! Free! Car parking was $12 to $17 a day.

Sometimes its not about the ride, its about cheap registrations and cheap gas.
A scooter makes a ton of sense in the core of Vancouver with the parking bullshit & narrow side streets. Now with car sharing it's just easier to jump in Car2Go for urban trips.

@SevenOfNine: Would it help if he put some Vance and Hines Short shots on the bike and set the timing off 3 degrees? 200cc's of Harley guttural roar?

Just picked it up today! Having a great time, comfortable, saves gas, can hang with almost any cars out there up to 55mph in city. Just thinking about it makes me want to ride again. Froze my nuts off at times. 1 more month to go before 60 degrees!

I use to ride sportbikes for more than a decade. I can't X 10 million shift again. Sick to death of shifting anything from 2 wheels to 4 wheels. Got it all out of my system!
I only automatic everything.

Exactly. Congrats on the new ride.
Enjoy every shiftless outing!

Someone once told me - when discussing choices in motorcycles - "it's not the arrow, it's the Indian."

Now before i'm accused of being a racist, i am not, it's about the operator's skill, not the machinery being operated.

I just learned that 50cc scooters don't need a motorcycle license to operate PLUS they're dirt cheap to insure/run. HMMMM!!!!!!

I still ride the Sym HD200 and enjoy the hell out of it. Its got almost 4k miles or 6437 km. Only had to replace a leaking petcock under warranty. Its has plenty of power for a 171cc motor. I take it on the freeways in the slow lane but its sure not a freeway eating machine. I was thinking of adding a Vespa GTS 300 used at a later time. But I constantly remind myself of the rule "if you have to buy on credit you can't afford it". So that stops the dream. I have some debts to pay off. I swear credit cards can be pure evil.

I took my motorcycle license with a Honda PC50 moped when I lived in Halifax....never cancelled my license since then just in case I might by a Harley.

Scooter and Motorcycle videos helps with the winter blues. I find scooters to be comical and light in personality, less serious than motorcycles.
I often just go in the garage and dream its April.

Sorry Master blaster. I try to talk light in the lounge. Not sex harrassment or death of a killer kind of topics. You know its winter, find things that make people get their minds off the gray and rain.

Livewire was an experimental electric bike.
They made about a hundred but never sold any.
Interesting concept though, would like to try one for commuting..

If you want more power but still cheap insurance, check out a Yamaha majesty 400. Rides light for a maxi scoot and has a lot of storage space.
