No I dont emphatize at all (does playing baseball in 2 national tournaments count as high enough level for you?). You watch what you say, period. I dont think what she said was all that bad. But you need to blame everyone who gets over offended so easily (ie people on this very board think being told "not the best looking" is an insult, and elsewhere I say a newfie joke typed out and at the end "sorry if that offends anyone" - it's a damn newfie joke we've been saying them for decades). It comes down to if you're serious about your sport you think twice about things before you do/say them.
Yes I'm offended. Lots of people have "olympic fit caliber" bodies. They're actually common. What isn't common are olympic caliber talent levels..... Great is not common. Yes, yes, yes you can argue up and down she's someone's taste but to someone somewhere a 280lbs woman has a "great" body.... Hell there are better bodies on my local HS girls Rugby team. Probably have more actual talent/skill as well as the woman mentioned is a specialized track and field "athlete".
Heh I remember they had a Canadian woman's soccer match and the Victoria Secrets fashion show on tv one night, I found the soccer team hotter.
I think we can just agree to disagree - don't really want to engage in a long and drawn out debate with you about this. We have different opinions on how she was treated with that remark and your are certainly entitled to your opinion. I certainly disagree that it is 'common' for people to have 'Olympic fit caliber' bodies. Common is relative I guess but even in a city like Vancouver that is considered 'fit' by world standards, you can walk around in any public place (i.e. shopping mall) and you are likely hard press to find a lot of elite fit women. We obviously also have differences in taste as well. To a certain extent, looks are subjective but there have been scientific evidence that there are certain attributes that make someone attractive - otherwise there wouldn't be supermodels and celebrities out there that are deemed attractive by the masses.
There are some hot girls on the regular hard court volleyball teams too... that Desiree Hooker is pretty hot!
