Cable sports pack here in Calgary I get both TSN and three SN channels, and some specialty ones, which is kinda cool because if there's no real game on, some channel has an old classic replay somewhere.

Love watching the Spurs actually, sadly I like watching the Clips as well even though it's torture until Chris Paul decides he's gonna take over the game (and he's not been good in the SA series so far). These playoffs have been terrible, scoring is way down (so are the shooting %'s), they say it's because defense is better but really it's just a ton of fouling (but yet they're complaining of flopping, no it's alot more lazy defense and actual fouling). I'm not getting to see as much as the playoffs as I'd like to as I dont get all the sports channels anymore at work here (and my tv sucks, so I really only watch tv an hour a night while I'm in the gym).

And how can you not enjoy the Thunder? Yea it isn't so much proper spacing and ball movement ala Spurs, but come on how can you not enjoy Durant, Westbrook, and Harden assaulting the rim? I'll full on admit, I'm a Heat fan since they signed Bosh and Lebron. Say all you want Lebron is the best player in the NBA (talent/ability wise anyways) plus Wade is a beast. Too bad Bosh is out, Wade must be banged up as he's been way off all playoffs and the rest of their team is junk. Cant stand the Pacers, this isn't hockey and I really do not like this whole beat em up tough guys attitude they carry around (and then they complain about sending Miami to the foul line repeatedly, please, if you're going to act like the old Pistons, Knicks and Pacers you're going to lose the free throw battle, especially when you're just a jump shooting team).

Seriously the travelling issue has been present for what, the past 15years?

Chris Paul is a pure point guard, he spends the majority of the game simply setting up his other teamates (and seriously you think NO takes any games from LA or even makes the playoffs without Paul?). Parker's damn good, especially when he's getting into the lane at will (as you say, we dont get to see much of him, so I dont have alot of views to go off of, just what I remember him getting into the lane = death to the other team), but better than Paul?! Paul up until this year has been the team (and the clips really aren't that good, Del Negro is an idiot) Parker has a legit team around him (ie three other future hof'ers, yes I think Manu deserves it, and I'm including Pop which is a no brainer for the hall) and is part of a world class organization. Westbrook always struck me as an Iverson type of guard, not really a point guard he just plays that position and dominates the ball. Rondo couldn't shoot to save his life (ft's or a mid range) which makes him a serious liability at the end of close games (teams either foul him if he gets to the paint or just play off of him and dare him to shoot the long J), but you have to admit he's a triple double machine.

People love to pile on Lebron, and they also wont give him credit when he deserves it. The Heat dont make the finals if Lebron didn't beast the Bulls in the Conf Finals (how I remember it anyways). Need I mention the 37pts he's got thus far against Indiana in an absolute must win? Nobody should compare him to Kobe or MJ, he's a different type of player and Jordan is in a league all to himself (I dont think Kobe's hit a relevant game winner in like 4 years, he's almost becoming a volume shooter type scorer with poor effeciency, no check that he IS nothing more than a volume shooter type scorer chasing the points record, seriously Bynum can dominate games now, he should give up the ball to him more often - I believe we've all seen this act before right, just ask Shaq). I also dont believe in Hero Ball (as the phrase is coined now), I seem to remember Paxson, Kerr, Grant hitting some mighty important shots for the Bulls during the Jordan years. Having said all that, Lebron did choke on a fat dick full of pressure during the 4th quarters of last years finals - cant deny it. But like I said, Lebron is hands down the best player in the nba ability/talent wise. What made MJ and Kobe the champions they were was something else those two are just pure forces of will, pretty sure Lebron doesn't have that at his beck and call.

Without a healthy Bosh I dont see any eastern team winning it, Boston - No, Philly and Indy - BWHAHAHAHA!! So the nba champion is coming from the Western finals of SA vs OKC, I'd love to see the Big Fundamentals get his fifth ring, funny how there's very little chatter about just how great Duncan has been, like all time great list imo (and I used to hate watching that low block bank shot, now I think I'll miss it when its gone). But I'm very good with Durant officially starting his reign of terror on the NBA, the guy is a class act. How many players of his caliber would be ok with Westbrook dominating the ball like he does (even before when westbrook was doing alot of dumb things with that ball too!). He's down to earth off the court and a pure killer on it.

Yup SA vs OKC and I'll probably only get to see one game of it =/

Boston is a real enigma. Yes it's KG, Allen (Shuttlesworth!), Rondo, and Pierce (is there anybody else in the league that can post a 6-20 shooting night but still have 28pts other than Kobe and maybe D-Wade? How are people still falling for that mid range pump fake jump into them for the foul/ft routine?). But outside of Rondo - They. Are. Old. Unlike Duncan they haven't had their minutes cut back and rationed (lol this year Duncan had a "DNP - Old" listed by Pop, and those were the only two games he missed in a condensed season - they've been extending his career for years now with the rationing of his minutes going back like 4 years now). Some games it really shows, when you match em up against a team like Philly, yea their offense stinks, no go to guy (Iggy isn't a go to guy, he's a hussle defensive player with some offensive skills, Brand is past his prime), yadda yadda, but their style of ball can wear down a team like Boston (besides have the C's really ever rolled anyone for a 7 game series, it always seems like they do it the hard way and get by on grit, big individual effort/games, and defensive intesity - the last one there can be broken). It's too bad Doug Collins is great at taking a so-so/developing team right to the brink but can never get them over the hump and always seems to get replaced, but his style I imagine starts to wear on players after awhile as well.

But that seems par for the eastern conf. The old pistons and knicks, the old and new pacers, the celtics, the bulls. Intense, defense, grit, grim, not pretty basketball, lots of fouling. Even Miami's real strength is their defense fueling their transition game. How does that style play out in the west. It doesn't, just ask the Grizzlies who couldn't even beat the Clips with that kind of game - and as we know the Clippers just got EXPOSED as frauds by the Spurs (they can be real good building around Griffin/Paul/Jordan - if he doesn't regress even more - and if they get rid of that crackhead of a coach: but when things aren't going their way they can fall apart pretty badly, especially if you can neutralize/contain Paul as nobody else seems to be able to keep it together when things get tough, Losing Billups really hurt them, if only for the calming presence he had).

What really amuses me is that Van Gundy got fired today. Sure Dwight Howard is a bitch, and I'm glad that near the deadline people started to see that as he deserves more derision than Lebron for his "decision" (at least Lebron made a decision ffs!). But how is Van Gundy an innocent victim in all this. He got some insider information that Dwight wanted him fired and HE WENT STRAIGHT TO THE MEDIA to air their dirty laundry!!! Seeing what this board is all about I'm sure we all understand the concepts of discretion and keeping things in house. That whole organization is messed up, the (ex) GM stunk (he thought picking up lol agent zero Arenas was a good idea), their star player is a flake, the (ex) coach is a child, their owner must be senile to think Howard was going to stay with only his faith to go on (or he knew that Dwight is a flake, in which case WHY DO YOU WANT TO KEEP HIM!?) - and supposedly this has been one of their more successful runs......TWO FIRST ROUND EXITS PAST TWO YEARS:thumb: Good thing for no state tax or they wouldn't get ANYBODY.

And it needs to be said since it's been mentioned about the end of Duncan's career. We are seeing (probably just saw) the end of relevance of Kobe's career. I've never like Kobe, at all. But maaaaaad respect for him. He is damn close to Jordan in the ways that mattered (does nobody actually remember that Jordan was an ASS-HOLE! I mean he punched out a teamate during practice ((alegedly)), was probably the best trash talker in the league until Gary Payton showed his face, and tried to bring back the Hitler 'stash!). Sure he'll stick around, chase the points record; but I dont think they're winning much anymore - that team as it's built has two championships, I see no drive whatsoever in anyone other than Kobe when they play. The Bean is no MJ, but he doesn't need to feel any shame or inferiority standing besides him either.

The only difference between being an asshole and ultra competitive is how often you win. It's like being crazy but if you're rich you're not crazy just "eccentric".

I won't blame Pippen, he was the man on that team finally. He did all the things he was supposed to as a sidekick for years, he deserved that chance to have the game in his hands. I won't support him pouting on the bench but I won't hold it against him.
