I bought a Genius model for $150 in Staples, a very good deal. You need to research the items carefully. some do well at night and some don't. Some record over the old data after a few hours, some don't. Some have proprietary mounts, and cords, some have standard. the high points of the Genius, not bad at night, some have lots of memory and some use cards of chips. The Genius model at that price covers things well. It has standard buy anywhere camera mounts, but does come with mounts, standard 32 GB card can be used, and gives about 10 hours of recording or about 250 segments. standard plug in cord you can replace anywhere, and really good full Hd picture. If you buy cheap, so be it. Look in cdn tire also, they have an HP model, but pricey, also Cobra makes one. Oh yes, some record sound in your car so anyone talking is picked up and has not idea they are are being recorded.

Got mine from http://www.soundsgoodauto.com/ in Coquitlam.

Its a Blackvue DR500GW with GPS, Wifi & 1080p. Pricey at $350, but I cant recommend it enough, great quality piece of kit. They guys at soundsgood can hardwire it for you.

The full HD models are more pleasant to watch. I hook mine up to the 60 inch TV on HD and great stuff.

Gopro +1. Only issue I haven't been able to overcome is it doesn't autostart when I start my car.

The G1W you linked from amazon is a very well reviewed camera and matches up to other cameras above the $100 range performance wise.
Last I saw they were selling these around $120 in the asian malls and Vancouver based FB pages.
