where are all the good movies

just watched that movie with tom cruise and camern diaz spy thriller,

what a stupid movie,

movies should have like a story line some sort of story line
they should have some sort of drama, action something,
there visual so they should have some sort of scenery special effects or something,
at least one of the above preferrable all three, or just be funny right

watched the movie but was there a story i suppose there was but it was so vague
the action was so phoney it was like a cartoon it was just stupid,

the scenery none if tits and ass,

i mean that one with arnold right true lies with jamie lee,
it was fun it was silly it had like a harrier jump jet car chases that seemed real, or not so phoney
it showed lots of jamie lee in her panties, there was a fight seen in the back of the car she likes or wore black panties
i mean does cameron have a clause in her contract no skin, she was in a bikini once during the show,
i watched panic room three or four times just to watch jodi fosters boobs in her t- shirt and no bra
the that bank heist where some one called her a cunt and she has great legs by the way,
but honestly cameron just looks old and wrinkled. and beside the bikini there was no skin at all

the james bond movies were fun the action was reasonable great scenery cars and they had vesper with her great set of boobs. fun movies,

the bourne movies fun movies not really any skin but great sort of believable action a story line.

i think i saw a couple of movies of diaz;s its like she is boring nothing to look at whats the big deal with her,

i will watch any movie of kate winslet, i think half of them i saw she has a nude scene in them,
whats that other stupid spy movie i saw completely stupid and unforgettalbe

A couple I picked up at Blockbuster recently.

The Two Escobars. I saw this one at the Vancouver International Film Festival and it is quite the documentary highlighting the relationship between the Columbian drug cartel (Pablo Escobar) and the Columbian National Soccer team playing in the 1994 World Cup (Andres Escobar was a defender).

Fascinating film.

The other one I enjoyed was a documentary about Hugh Hefner. Not just the Bunny stuff but his fights with government, FBI, Women's Lib and the religious rightwing. Well done documentary.

I saw 'The Town' a couple of evenings ago and was quite impressed. It's directed by and starred in by Ben Affleck. Lots of great action and a story as well. I love documentaries too so I'm gonna check out the ones Badbadboy recommended as I've been really frustrated with crappy movies lately as well.

These are all entertaining movies, the Bourne trilogy perhaps my fav of all time.

Tom Cruise films are often worthwhile, though i can't speak for the one you referred to.

Diaz is not an actress i look for, but rather Angelina Jolie.

Perhaps you'ld enjoy Gladiator, Planet of the Apes, & other Schwarzenegger films.

Part of why there's so many crap movies is how they're made. It's easy to say you spent $100,000 on a special effect, because you can see the results on screen. Spending $50,000 to get a good script doesn't easily show up and is harder to justify to an accountant.

Also, many scripts float around Hollywood for years, between studios and star and executives. Even once a script goes into production, changes can be made directors, stars may not like their lines or want somebody else's line because it might make a cool catchphrase, executives want a change just because or because another executive had something to do with it, the people who actually put up the money want a change, budget overruns demand cutting or changes, multiple scriptwriters get brought to try to make sense of the changes, etc, etc etc. Once the film is actually finished shooting, more changes can happen in the editing room. Then once an (almost) final cut is done the film is given test screenings where the audience is asked about pretty much every scene, and if the audience doesn't like a particular scene it's changed, no matter how much the scene may help the story. Occasionally, cuts are also made just to bring a film down to around 90 minutes, which fits it nicely into television time slots.

Check out Concrete:Fragile Creatures by Paul Chadwick. A graphic novel, Chadwick worked in Hollywood for a while before starting this series, and this gives a behind the scenes look at how films are made.

I know what i like and want & enjoy 95% of movies that i see. I generally select based on
previews prior to other films as well as what i see and read on the cover. Also certain actors
and actresses. If while watching it i find it starts out sucking i FF to parts that look more
promising rather than waste my time watching the boring parts. For the most part chick
flicks, dramas and romances are out, and everything else is in, especially sci-fi, comedies,
thrillers and action.

I've seen The King's Speech and it was one of the best films I've seen in recent years. Great performances, excellent script and very engaging.

I recently watched Another Year and it was good but not the best by Mike Leigh. I'm a big fan of his films including "Secrets and Lies" (1996) "Vera Drake" (2004) and "Naked" (1993) which was rather dark. It's all about the acting and the conflicts are surprisingly realistic as they unfold.

Personally, I cannot stand movies whose sole raison d'etre is to show off special effects and mindless "blow 'em up" action. (ARE YOU LISTENING, MICHAEL BAY?!) I'm not interested in paying good money to see a crapfest. I want to be ENTERTAINED with a good story when I go to the movies.

I've discovered that a lot of foreign-language movies are the best when it comes to storytelling. Their stories are often set in the real world, not some made-up fantasy world or alien planet, and they deal with human issues that all people can relate to.

Independent films are also fantastic when it comes to storytelling and most of them do not involve feature Hollywood A-listers. That's fine, as far as I'm concerned, because that doesn't bother me. Interestingly enough, though, some Hollywood A-listers have starred in some indie films.

There are three theatres in Edmonton that play art house and indie films (Princess Theatre, Garneau Theatre, and Metro Cinema in the Citadel Theatre), the sort of movies that will never make it to the cineplex because these movies are not aimed at the "average" moviegoers who want only to see things get blown up and see bad guys and good guys get shot at. These are movies that stimulate the mind and make you think and even make you reevaluate the way you see the world.

I'm with Spermie. If you're going to watch films that truly are remarkable and not full of glitz, glamour and explosions to keep you entertained then watch movies from around the world. There is a whole world out there, literally! Some faves include "Old Boy" (2003; Korea), "In the Mood for Love" (2000; Hong Kong), "Breaking the Waves" (Denmark; 1996), "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (Sweden;2009), and especially "Un Prophete" (A prophet) (France; 2009) which was nominated in 2010 for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Another excellent French flick is "Ne le dis a personne" (Tell no one) from 2006. Recently I saw a great film from Spain called "Biutiful" (2010) from the great Mexican director Alejandro Inarritu who also made "Babel" (2006) and "21 Grams" (2003). Of course, it may be a bit difficult for those who don't like reading subtitles but, oh well, your loss.

Had not watched it for a while but recently put Invictus in the DVD player. A powerful and well done movie.

Also recently watched V for Vendetta again. That movie is almost scary in how close it is to our times.

If you want a good war movie, well acted and basically true, Zulu is a good choice. A little short on blood and flying limbs but a great story about courage facing impossible odds. It also has some National Geographic style nudity. lol

60% of the movies released now are a variation of a story/theme already done in the past or a bad remake of good foriegn films. I remember seeing a web stie that would take current movies and link them to the origional one made.

We are in for at least 10 remakes getting released over the next six months, just have to be patient and hope we get some decent flicks coming.

I don't think Hollywood has totally run out of ideas. It is still the epitome of creativity. Major studios still get hundreds of boxes of scripts weekly. Not discounting the ones sent to talent agencies or people in the know or connected to the industry one way or another. I think the said remakes are more about funding sources and profitability. As a producer with OPM ( Other People's Money ) would you play safe and do a remake of Escape From New York or make a film about the script handed over to you by a server in a restaurant named Andrew Kevin Walker entitled " Seven ". Btw, Andrew Kevin Walker's one-in-a-million dream did come true mainly because of his hustle and persistence.

So I guess we'll have more remakes in the coming years. Seems you're getting older when the movies you watch as a kid are now getting remakes. Same as songs and fashion. Converse, espadrilles, etc. :nod:
