When does Christmas "end"?

Christmas is only a few days, compared to the amount of days we celebrate. I usually put my lights up 5 or 6 weeks before Christmas and I take them down on January 2nd. Now, I was out late last night and I noticed a lot of my neighbours still have their lights up. Are your lights still up? When should we take them down? Or are they actually "winter" lights that we can leave up all season?

According to the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, Ordinary Time doesn't officially begin until the Monday after the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which (usually) falls on the Sunday after Epiphany (January 6th). This means that the Christmas season actually extends beyond the popular "Twelve Days of Christmas."

For our Orthodox Ukrainian friends, Christmas was on 07 January and the New Year is 14 January. I turn my outdoor decorations off then.

In the neighbourhood that I live in I saw several sets of Christmas lights on well past Valentine's Day last year.

Traditionally I have always taken all decorations, tree and lights down on January 1 so I don't carry anything forward from the old year into the new year.

For our Orthodox Ukrainian friends, Christmas was on 07 January and the New Year is 14 January. I turn my outdoor decorations off then.

Tree comes down after Ukrainian New Years but I leave my lights on longer.
I decorate my trees and eves with warm white LED's and the lights look so nice in the snow I leave them on throughout the winter, until the days start to get longer.
