...like Kelly Blue Book, or NadaGuides? It seems like people just pick their own arbitrary price anyway. There's a car I'm interested in. '97 Eagle Talon, Tsi, AWD, just over 160,000 km's, all original, no accidents, adult owned, no mods of any kind. All factory options, just saftied. Belts done 20,000 km's ago.
Car is just what I'm looking for, even like the colour. The thing is, I ran the info into the above sites, and the valuations came back at $5770 and $5540, respectively. The guy is asking $7500, and has recently dropped the price from $8500.
I guess this isn't as bad as it could be; I recently saw a '98Esi (no turbo, no AWD) with an asking price of $9900! I live in a relatively small market with comparatively few DSM's (especially good condition AWD's), but it seems like some of these prices are out of whack.
I dunno, is it reasonable to expect people to negotiate based on these 'official' valuations, or are prices dictated solely on what people will actually pay?
