What would you do on a day off?

If you will be getting this Friday off work, what would you do to make the most of it? I've had the rare day off to myself before, but the day seems to go by too quickly. By the end of the day, it seemed that I had made it barely worthwhile.

Any good ideas?

just pamper yourself until your heart's content.
you've worked hard and you should reward yourself accordingly.

me:
a long wkend in Portland, enjoy their craft beer establishments and a drive further to Cannon Beach.
come back Sunday afternoon, hit one of my fave cafes for espresso, then visit
one of the AMPs in the eve to cap off the weekend. a happy ending indeed.

I like to visit bicycle shops and look at the latest things to make my race bike look or feel faster.

Indulge in decadence.

A bottle of Barolo, air dried salami (Calabrese for a little heat or Tartufo for the taste and aroma of black truffles) from D'Original Sausage Haus in Steveston and a good book to read or colour. : )

Enjoy whatever you end up doing.

If you don't want the day to go by so quickly, wake up early and get the little BS things out of the way. Call up a friend, have brunch. This Friday is gonna be nice out so the possibilities are even better. Explore the city/region and go somewhere you've never been before. Get out of the city if you are usually in the city. Call up another friend for a late dinner and watch the sunset.

I've always wanted to take a sightseeing tour around Vancouver in one of those topless busses or the horse-pulled carriage around Stanley Park ... I think that would be a fun and productive way to spend a day.

... but on those less active days off a warm bath, candles, a savoury meal, a decadent dessert would be nice so to enjoy the silence.

Depends on the weather and how much fun money I have. If poor but the weather is nice, go for a drive and have lunch at a nice outdoor patio overlooking water somewhere. If the weather is poor and I have fun money, it's off to the casino. If broke and bad weather, read or sleep or play back gammon if my play partner is available.

That is a perfect afternoon (the drive and lunch) ... a favourite destination of mine is Dundarave and the restaurant is BeachSide Cafe (don't quote me on that ... names not so quick)

The burger they have (or had) on the menu is one of the best burgers I've ever tasted!

I really appreciate everyone's ideas. The general theme of relaxing and indulging sounds perfect. I'm thinking I might even hike up Grouse Mountain in the morning and relax up there... Have lunch, maybe read a little or play some online poker on my mobile phone. Then head back down. If I'm up for it I may go for a massage.

Driving out somewhere I haven't been before would be cool. However, I wouldn't want to lose half the day in the car.

Thanks again for the great ideas.

Go see my favour SP
Now that I am a single guy with nobody to answer to the possibilities are endless it seems. Visit one my fab girls, with this weather hit Kits Beach, go see another fav sp and let her shower all the sand off my sunburnt ass before date # 2. My budget not big but sometimes staying home on long weekends can be fun !
