Kamloops B.C.
About five years after graduating I met our high school quarterback and reigning jock. He was sitting on a bench in pigeon park all messed up.
It was really sad. He had everything going for him and just fell apart after high school.
Sad how that works isn't it?
I was asked to leave High School...I was told I'd never make anything of myself anyways, so you may as well go get a job in construction, or join the Military....I did both.
I now own 1400 acres and at least a quarter million in livestock....free and clear.
Every once in awhile I run into those boys from the Football team ,I used to fist fight with on a regular basis.
Some did well, many didn't ....but most of them long for those glory days back in school, when they where somebody.

Great you had some fabulous teachers to encourage you in elementary school. I had the opposite. My grade 8 teacher told me I should sign up for the two year shop program in high school and drop out after grade ten to take a factory job, because I would not achieve much in life.

Like you, I couldn't help but be influenced by her words. I chose to prove her wrong (a fuck you bitch) response and graduated high school, excelled in University and got a post graduate scholarship and a Masters Degree. Her five or six class pets who she continually heaped praise on in front of the other students ended up pregnant by Grade ten or stoners. I think two of them graduated high school made it to University and failed because all they did was party. I think of that teacher often every time I check my bank account.
Funny how teachers can influence you in different ways!!! Seems that the influence of this teacher was positive.
