Thought about that and decided against it. There are just too many tasty distractions at the UofC or MRC and its difficult to look genuine while sporting a raging hard-on.

All valid points/concerns. The cartridge for the 2200 is actually fairly reasonable at $150 for the new HP version. As for the recycled cartridges....IMO they're pieces of shit.

Good suggestion but I have a old HP IIIP and newish 7410 in my basement workroom/office. Granted the IIIP is older and slower than the 2200D I'm getting rid of but its much smaller and for what little I use it does the job well.

I've made the mistake of owning two lexmark printers. First was a Optra EP that I won at Comdex LZ many many moons ago (that was a fucking treat to bring it back home). Second one was a piece of shit Optra 312 that I actually bought.
On a related note the MFU that I bought to replace the 2200D is a
Brother 7820N and so far I'm VERY impressed. I've always been leery of what I'd classify as tier two printer manufacturers (i.e. Brother, Epson, etc) in terms of quality, construction and reliability. So far no concerns with the 7820. Its very quiet (nice while I'm on conference calls), prints great quality, easy web based set up and while presently no use to me the built in NIC is pretty good for a printer that costs less than $500.
