Pull a White House and hollow it out. This is a piece of Canada's heritage. No reason Holmes on Holmes etc al can't donate some time and materials to help offset the cost to the general public.

The HGTV network, Shaw et al could sponsor it and get a tax deduction out of it, wouldn't you think?

It's a heritage building, but has only been used as official residence since the mid 1950's.

It needs to be razed and a new place built with better security and modernized green features, but that will never happen.

The Trudeaus are already living elsewhere, so this is the perfect time to take a year or more and completely gut the place and do the job properly.
