Not that hockey is particularly unique in this realm. Just today Phoenix Suns Bball owner announced he will be selling the team after a damning report from NBA that identified a culture of misogyny and racism perpetrated by Sarver and the management of that organization.

And this from the CBC yesterday about a rise in violence and homicides on the DTES against women, and especially of First Nations ancestry.

The problem is male testosterone. When I was younger, when guys couldn't rip one off after a couple of days (by hand/getting laid), go stark mad saying they got to get some! Being intensely physical drives up the sex drive.
Add in poor mechanism on how to deal with male testosterone(are there even classes in high school for this for boys? behavioral modification/counselling-not when I went to high school or even now I think); and you can see why guys can do bad things. Now add in guys of low character who will use date rape drugs and other drugs and you see what can happen. But it usually happens when the gal is alone. If a guy gets away with it once, he will do it again, unless he is stopped.

With the Me too coming out several years ago and the isolation of Covid, these men are coming out of the woodwork. Suppressed and now coming out in full force....Pendulum swings both ways.... not a good one. Add in inflation and other crap and yeah guys can loose it. There is always Cause and Effects.....

I was watching an video/documentary on Non-Disclosure Agreements. In sexual assault cases in order to get compensation, women usually have to sign a NDA to get compensated. Although NDA were intended for companies secrets, it is frequently used to cover up sexual misdeeds/assaults. So guys that weren't charged by police, and get sued for sexual harassment, still keep doing it, because they have NDAs.

I get it, guilty til proven innocent. But look at the facts of the situation.......a high profile hockey player involved, his own resort, the entire staff walks in solidarity? Add in context of Hockey Canada recent news, our cultural forgiveness of high profile men and athletes for their "mistakes" which traumatize others, and the isolation of the resort. You really don't get how so many male athletes are literally untouchable....It's honestly sad how common it is for pro athletes to have DV or SA cases against them, many of which have been "settled" out of court.

They don't even have to be professional hockey players, even just the amateurs like the Kamloops blazers, Kelowna rockets, or PG cougars think they are cool, when they are not. Hell they don't even contribute anything useful to society, unlike carpenters, electricians, doctors, mechanics, chefs, tellers, truckers, cashiers, that contribute something helpful to everyone. I strongly disagree.
I've met many hockey players, and ALL were assholes.
Yet when I meet regular people its more like 1 in 20 is an asshole. Yesterday I had interactions with about 20 something people, and found them all perfectly pleasant.
Be it from the grocery store, parts store, shoppers drug mart, the people who were in line at all 3, the lady beside me at the car wash who I had a great chat with, the the guy picking up his mail while I was doing the same, and so we had a 15 minute chat at the mail boxes.

I try to avoid generalizations, and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I never said ALL athletes were bad. I just pointed out that this is very common in this world of sport which is behind the scenes still heavily controlled by old conservative white men. What about this statement is unfair?

This is the thing about forums and comments taken out of context AND when generalizations include no delimiters.
Actually I do know many athletes and from a pretty weak university football career but one none the less as well as hockey, baseball, basketball etc I do know about the aggression but saying ALL is just not right.
And to add, fellow pooner 3chainz, I didn't challenge any of your posts, but what the hell, eh? Its another glorious day here in the lower mainland and I think I'll just do some yard work, then hit the gym and do some old guy lifting to work off that locker room aggression.

Competitive sports at high level attract competitive people. A large part of that is constant aggressiveness. Now add in tren/deca/hgh which everyone from 15 to 70 seem to be using.
There are recreational leagues that are mostly okay but even there are guys who can’t play just for fun and have to be assholes. eg: One guy I know gets off on busting other’s expensive sticks for no reason.
