I recommend a card that gives you airmiles as using it that much will give you a free flight every year (or 2) which is worth the $39.00 annual fee. I don't have it but I should/would if I used it more than occassional unexpected emergencies or frivolous buys (like the new 48 gal fishtank I bought last week on a whim.)
48 gal fishtank? Does that mean it's gotten too cold to go to the nude lake, and you're now swimming @ home with 47 other nekkid lovelies?
Could I come over and watch?

After watching Suze Orman on the tele, she said to call the credit card company and say you want to cancel the card, nothing else but to cancel the card. When they ask why, just tell them the interest rate is too high. When they drop the interest rate a touch, demand 6%. Expect them to quote around the 9-11%, then say 6%. They'll put you on hold then they'll come back and say okay.

They'd rather give you 6% rather than lose you all together as a client. Interest is the way these comapnies make money and this way both parties are happy, that is if you don't want to give up your card with all the benefits the you are entitled to (frequent flyer miles, cahs rebate, etc.). And I've had 6% since 2002.

I don't think you need a lecture about credit cards, but if and when you find you can't pay the balance every month always pay a bit more than the minimum.
