Not to steal TilaJaye's thread but what are your favorite Dramas or Dramedies? Past or presently aired?

Easy choices for me are The Wire, Homicide, Mad Men, Justified, Battlestar Galactica and Lost.

For short run miniseries:

Generation Kill, Band of Brothers and Luther (honorable mention to The Shadow Line and Cracker).

Shows that were canceled before their time: Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, and Dead Like me (All Brian Fuller shows). Life, Brimstone and Freaks and Geeks

Oldies: Rockford Files, Hawaii Five-O, Magnum, Simon and Simon and while neither a Drama / Dramedy the original Star Trek series...

My So-called Life was fantastic! I absolutely love Claire Danes. A current show that's definitely worth watching is Sons of Anarchy. It's about a motorcycle gang in California, it's really good and quite addicting, lol.

Hmmm

Fringe- love the acting by all the cast but John noble steals the show.
Lost Girl(awesome show that centers on supernatural beigns and creatures of myth) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1429449/ awesome show and hot cast, good acting, awesome/erotic/steamy pg-13 sex scenes with decent writing for a canuck show
Pretty much anything HBO/Showtime origional series (True Blood, Empire Boardwalk, Entourage, Dexter etc...
Deadliest Catch (boarders reality/drama) These guys are amazing fishing for crab on the bearing sea, it's hard not to get caught up in thier stories, especially the Cornelia Marie crew.

Only posting the current ones for me as all my past favorites have already been listed.

i really liked californication
I tried to watch a few episodes, found them ok, but not quite enough to catch my attention. Some shows I don't enjoy and have to give some time to get in the right mindframe to get into it. I might give it a shot again in the near future.

Forgot to mention Six Feet Under, I have to say the Final episode was one of the best finales I have seen in probably 20 years of television.

Nice thread, I think I am going to give Six feet Under and My so called life a try. I love dramas. Got to buy the DVDs.

They always seem to cancel my favorite past dramas after only one season. I thought Now and Again, American Gothic and last season The Event were terrific. Sadly The Event will probably be gone after one season too.

Lost is all my time favorite, I remember I used to turn off the lights, no distractions and get carried away with that show.

Melrose place was the shit, when crazy Kimberly went psycho. And Michael, we all hated Michael!

Thanks to this thread, I just spent over 100 bucks buying the whole series of 6 feet under.

#1 - sopranos
#2 - breaking bad
#3 - west wing
#4 - the shield
#5 - 24 & dexter (tie)

show that's making a serious run at my all-time top 5 is "game of thrones."

Most of my favourites already mentioned, but the suggestion of Da Vinci's Inquest made me want to add that other great Canadian series -- Slings and Arrows. Paul Gross as a half-mad theatre director in a fictional Stratford, with a great supporting cast. Only three seasons, with six episodes each, but each season got better.

Others not mentioned are the great British crime series Prime Suspect (with Helen Mirren), and Cracker (with Robbie Coltrane).
