Someone just broke my car window and put my car cd's and everything on the floor but did not take anything not even my sunglasses. I am not sure what they were looking for as all my insurance paper were locked in and so does my gps.

Its just I was not aware I am only covered after 300 deductible and it cost me less than that to fix the car glass. Just that I have to spend that money on fixing the car for someone else's fun which I could have spend on my fun.

Anyone else had the same experience? Any advise how to prevent it?

Yes - I would advise to leave your car windows down and or the door open. Chances are you won't have any broken windows. Now someone might carve up the upholstery for fun but at least the windows should be okay. I suppose you could also stop visiting discount service providers in bad neighbourhoods. Afterall this is a forum for that sort of discussion really/

Somebody probably disturbed them and they didn't finish the job. Druggies are looking for loose change and cash first off. Stuff they have to sell is less important to them.

Do you not have an alarm? Mine flashes right on the dash board and it's quite loud when tripped.

BTW druggies don't check to see if a door is unlocked and will smash windows regardless. A buddy with a convertible had his roof slashed and even had the windows rolled down too!

Not much you can do. Had my window broken. They stole nothing, cause there was nothing useful for a junkie to steal.
Nothing visible in the car.
Deductible was about $25 more than replacing it myself.

The strata manager called the cops to come for this.
The cop I had to deal with was one of the dumbest guys I have ever met.
He told me I should cut the cable from under my steering wheel that opens the trunk, so if they break in they can't open my trunk.
Even though my cars backseat has a pass through to the trunk that even I can fit through, and I am 6'8"
I asked how that would prevent breaking my window, and he started getting really mad at me and almost screaming at me. So I told him just to go away with his dipshit advice.
Idiot thought he could intimidate me in my own kitchen.

Problem is, even if these guys are caught nothing happens. They had mean dads or a mean gym teacher you know.

I guess I just have to live with it and pay the bill. I must be the unlucky one.
I would say that since it has happened once, the chances of it happening again are slim. I think the idea to install an alarm system with a flashing light may be a good deterrent in the future.

Hi Mounty, you have to watch out.

It happened to me 20 years ago. Hardly anything was stolen from my car. However that car thief got my home address and broke into my home garage a week later. When my little son told me there was no seats in my car. I was curious WTF my son was talking!!! It turned out that the car thieves stole my leather car seats which costed ICBC $7000 to replace my seats!

Commiserations! Happened to me last winter when things were pretty tight and didn't have an inside place to work on it.

Thank goodness for pick-a-parts and good friends!

You owe it to yourself, sometime this weekend, to take some time, crack a brewsky and re-watch Robocop 2. Very Soothing!
