The natives have reservations... they have something like claims like 110% of the land in Canada. So all the land in Canada is not worth Trillions... Canada put them on reservation and made treaties with the tribes and broke them all....
They do get about 10 billion in funding from various government agencies including the "Norther affairs/Indian Affairs" portfolio. Anything more is hidden in other budgets like health etc. There is a quick and easy solution to the Native affairs and that is to nationalize their land (so now they pay land taxes), make them all Canadian citizens (so they now all have to pay income taxes). So we get money from them, not give them money.
The problems on reserves is that the elders or chiefs running every thing need to keep their people in the dark; so if they have inadequate housing, water, or pollution, they tell them its the white man's fault....the more uneducated their populace is the easier it is to control them through racist tactics... The problems that exist on reserves now are drug and alcohol abuse, lack of education for the children, cause they are not forced to go to school to learn (probably because their guardians are addicted to something). The drugs and alcohol are supplied by their own members not white man.. You can see why the younger people have high suicide rates ( the kids know there is something better out there , but can't get to it because of their current culture and lack of education). Now look at the residential school controversy, it was set up to teach Natives about English culture (more like assimilate them into English culture). That started over 100 years ago and still the Natives claim they are the victim.... If a white man marries a Native and goes to live on a reservation, well lets just call that reverse racism, they usually don't live there long.....
The reason I am down on the Natives is that the amount of money Canada spends on them; and they keep throwing it away by not maintaining structures built for them, lack of accountablility by the chiefs for money supplied by federal government. All they know how to do is blame the white man/government for their problems.... Somewhere they forgot how to pick up their own socks....
So nationalizing them is out of the question, you don't want them to raise arms, but the problem is that most of them are stuck in their culture mind set.
Global economy: Countries like China, India that have large population and cheap source of labour (compared to the US and Canada) make products cheaper than Canada and US. To combat this and the high price of labour in Canada and US some companies have gone with robotics to become more competitive with India and China.
Since the close of the cold war, western companies doing research now have high overturn rates for their research. eg. in 1960 the technology and profit for that product could be dragged over decades...now it has to have a turnover rate between 5 to 7 years.... So western companies are being more competitive since the end of the cold war. So profits have to be maximized as much as possible.
In China it is hard to have western patents protected. IN Muslim countries patents don't exist. Oil and weapons of mass destruction are probably not the only reason the west invaded Afghanistan and Iraq...
The controll of patents in the west by major large companies (car companies in particular); had resulted in cities from not investing in mass transportation system run by electricity (mainly trams), but investing in diesel buses and rubber tires etc; probably stalling the creation of the electric car (mass production of) by 50 years.
So back to the economy changing in the US. the rich get richer the poor poorer.... Yes the economy is changing and not in the direction for mass workers to be employed.
You need :
1. Basic needs (food, shelter, clothing, water)
2. Source of income (no work, how do you make money?)
3. Pay rent (need income and Basic needs)
If you lack income and can't afford to pay rent, where does that lead you... homeless, poor, prime motives for rebellion.
In the wild west, land was free for the taking.... but it wasn't polluted like it is nowadays. so if your homeless, penniless and you come across uninhabited land, chances that it is pollution with fire breathing water wells....
The question everyone should be asking is: Does the right of the common people come before the rights of the large multinational companies?
Another question is rebellion taking from the rich and giving to the poor.....
