I know I'm new here, but Fred sed something interesting about traffic and nobody making any money on the internet.

The inventor of the internet, could have been a rich man, but he didn't want anybody to make money on the net(Paging Mr. Gates!)

Obviously I don't know how much money it takes to run this site, but is this a money making venture, or a non profit entiny?

Just some food for thought.

Didn't the US military invent the internet?
Back then it was called Arpanet.

The precursor to the Internet, ARPANET was a large wide-area network created by the United States Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA). Established in 1969, ARPANET served as a testbed for new networking technologies, linking many universities and research centers. The first two nodes that formed the ARPANET were UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute, followed shortly thereafter by the University of Utah.

In a nice wet pussy!

Dr. Leonard Kleinrock created the basic principles of packet switching, the technology underpinning the Internet, while a graduate student at MIT. This was a decade before the birth of the Internet which occurred when his host computer at UCLA became the first node of the Internet in September 1969. He wrote the first paper and published the first book on the subject; he also directed the transmission of the first message to pass over the Internet.

But the Internet in itself was pretty bland. I used to surf on the the first commercial one in the early eighties, and it was text oriented, slow (150 baud Hayes modem - cost: $500) and expensive to run - much like browsing on a cell phone nowadays; God that's awful! You had to dial in to a host network, pay them and pass through to the individual sites like Compuserve and others. They all charged something along the way, so it was not unusual to pay a couple of hundred dollars a month for very liitle info. But it was fun...

Then came this guy:
