The CD thread got me wondering about books..
I could use some good ideas/suggestions and also just curious...

At the moment, I'm reading The Ethical Slut - A guide to infinite sexual possibilities by Dossie Easton and Catherine A. Liszt.
Can't say much about it yet, I just started reading it but it was recommended by a friend so I'm hopeful.. ;) Anyone read it?

I'm reading the book I'm writing.

The Brian Mulroney papers was a very good read - if you like behind the scenes kind of books.

"How the Weather Was" by Roger Kahn. It's a compilation of stories Kahn wrote back in the 60's and 70's for journals such as the Saturday Evening Post and Sport Magazine. It mostly profiles people such as Robert Frost and Willie Mays, and others, and also has a piece on the anti-war movement at Columbia University.

I just finished "The DaVinci Inquest" before I went to see the movie last night. Good thing I read it first, otherwise I would've been lost in the film.

Now I'm halfway through Elmore Leonard's "Mr. Paradise", it's okay and fine for light summer reading, but not as good as most of his books which I love.

Hey, I just started reading that one this morning! I've heard it's good, hope so! :)

Others I'm reading right now: Post Office - Charles Bukowski
Negotiating With The Dead - Margaret Atwood
The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio - Violet Blue (I figure there is always room to learn a new trick or two! :D )
Aphrodite's Daughters - Jalaja Bonheim

If you are looking for a fun read, I highly recommend Tom Robbins' Skinny Legs and All, and Jitterbug Perfume. His style is not for every reader, but if you enjoy delicious word play and a fun sensuality, you'll enjoy them.

Illusions, by Richard Bach is on my "everyone should read" list.

"The Dragons of Eden" by Carl Sagan, written in 1977, musings about the evolution of human intelligence. A good quick read.
"The Lost Dinosaurs of Egypt", an A&E book that is a companion to a show, disappointing waste of time..
"Blondel's Song", about Richard Lionheart's troubador and his search for the missing king while Richard was being held for ransom in Austria. History is always a good thing to read, helps you understand how things got so messed up.

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I'm finding some areas of life pretty challenging right about now.

I'm just finishing Barbara Tuchman's "A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century" (some uncanny and downright scary parallels to today's world) and am about to start "Have Glove Will Travel" by Bill 'Spaceman' Lee, the former Boston Red Sox and Montreal Expos pitcher.

I'm probably in my house.
I've got a few going, "Costume History and Style", given to me by a client, "The School of Whoredom", by Pietro Aretino and once in awhile I read my social/psych. text book. Also, my mother recently gave me a very old copy of the new testament, but I prefer the old testament, don't you?

Good reads

Working on 3 of them right now.
I could never read only one from beginning to end.

1. "Interactive French Grammar Made Easy"
2. "U-Boat the secret menace"
3. "Meditations - Marcus Aurelius" A 2nd century Roman emperor and philosopher of Stoicism. His reasoning is impeccable and his book has become my bible
