For me 2022 wasn't really a great year for me having lost my mom suddenly and some other things. I'm looking forward to a better year in 2023 and for me I've got a couple of milestones in particular that are approaching. The first and most important one is 20 years sober, I never thought that I would make it this far and it is an accomplishment that I am quite proud of. The second is my 25th year at the same employer which is pretty cool as well.
I was wondering if anyone else has something that they are looking forward to in the coming year. I'd like to know what everyone else has coming up that's important to them doesn't matter how small it may seem to them, I'm curious.

I don't think there is anything specifically I am looking forward to though spending time with my nieces would qualify as an answer. I wake up every morning and reflect on what I am grateful for. This puts me in a positive frame of mind to take on the rest of the day and all it has to offer. I recently retired and so far I am enjoying it immensely. I am on a few volunteer boards and have hiking groups that put some structure in my daily life.

How sad!!!! "Looking forward to" infers positive anticipation (I think). WW III and the collapse of civilization are not in the "positive" category, but I will concede that those events are possibilities. For me (in my eighties) another year of reasonable health for me and my wife is my positive wish.

It's all about having Low expectations and trying to find the positive in a negative. Perhaps we will see wildlife return in places its been forced to flee

I have no idea. Ran into a youtube video, about a girl born with no eyes from China adopted and it hit me hard.

Look up Evie Hurst. Makes me feel foolish when I get upset about the little things in life.

Well... with the remarks to civilization collapse,

to borrow a line from a movie,

Sounds about right in Vancouver, not there yet but we slowly getting there with how its progressing 🤓 🤣

But in regards to looking forward to positive things in life

Sometimes when listening to these greatest hits, and reflecting on life, embracing new changes from financial career, to health... For better or worst, there really is only moving forward on continuous improvement.

1 - For me I'm going to commit to health training, eating and sleeping consistently [ health is wealth as they say so if i want to keep seeing all the yummy ladies and friends, i gotta keep the health up, Plus its the biggest flex one can have on life when you're old ]

2 - Share, and build more memories / get out more out of life as mentioned earlier in a post, our problems may not be as detrimental when compared to people with less opportunity such as Elvie Hurst. A lot of Family around me are old now so spending time with people that matter and giving them the happiness / memories are priorities while balancing a work life balance, as we'll regret the time not spent with people we should've spent more time with when we had the opportunity. Money can always be earned, just gotta find another way but time you can't buy back 😢

Ah, 2023 and what it will have in store. I say FUCK the negatives, only looking at the positives!!
Big one for this mature pooner as I cross into the 8th decade.
Saw a T Shirt the other day that said "It's weird that I'm the same age as old people".

So, following the regime I started after the 2nd marriage came apart in about the same fashion as a tactical nuclear strike.
Drinking hardly any alcohol
Intermittent fast - no food after 9pm, none before noon next day
Drinking a LOT of water and starting the day with at least 20 oz water with lemon juice and a touch of salt
Eating mindfully, especially getting protein in while either staying in a calorie deficit or maintenance calorie intake (I am at my university weight and waist line :))
Lifting, currently on a 3 day 1 day off 3 day 2 day off 3 day 3 day off rinse and repeat regime and following the guidance of a personal trainer who kicks my butt and makes me hate and love her at the same time
Continuing to have excellent and regular sex with a couple of FWB's and of course interspersed with delightful suggestions from all of you and thank you for that!!
Oh and although I am still working, doing less of that and partaking more of my wood working and gardening passions.

It will be a good year!!

Looking forward to the end of toxic positivity, but that's not going to happen because it still remains a trend (just look at most of the posts in this thread and social media).

Some people take each day one day at a time, realizing this could be their last. For many, they shared their last Christmas with a loved one, whether it's a friend or family member.

The doomsday clock will likely continue to crawl closer to midnight. Fuel prices are heading up, but supposedly the BoC won't increase interest rates anymore.

Anyway, I wish I had a time machine like those who brag and expect 2023 to be a "good year".🤦‍♂️

Looking forward to the Doomsday Clock moving away from Midnight. More people should be lovers not fighters.
Agreed, I remember at the start of the pandemic back in 2020...

this great hit became quite popular again because it would seem the world needs a reminder from time to time

LOL i got notification BoC raised 0.25 earlier today... i didnt pay attention to any of it.. but I do think they're going to watch and hold for a while to see how the economy begins to cool without trying to risk a recession etc blah blah...

Maybe @Equity Market investor would have more insite since that's his up his alley and gig LOL 🤓

Congratulations @Langleydude for being 20 years sober!

For myself I’m looking forward to making the most of 2023, and continuing to reach goals I have set out to do and to live my life to its fullest.

-finishing my driving lessons and fully getting over my lifetime fear of driving (Just a few more in car lessons to go)
-getting my N license this spring
-getting my very first vehicle by the summer
-travelling to more places
-visiting my family, mainly my dad and sister in Toronto more
-beach weather so I can hit the nude beaches again
-giving less fucks about what people think about me and just living my best life
