I don't know how to word this .. But here goes.. This is not about me . it is about one of our lovely escorts trying to get home.
So She was coming from Montreal to Victoria on Friday the 19th with a stop at Calgary . Then the her fright from Calgary to Victoria is canceled .. Now I don't know if the flight was canceled or there was no set for her.
Thet put her up in a hotel room and tried again Saturday no go , and again on Sunday again no go.. this is Monday now and they tel her no way till Thursday the 26 Or she can take a fright to Comox tomorrow... Are they going to pay for the travel down to Victoria Or some one to drive 6 hrs there nd back to get her.. What fucken crap
I looked up the West jet booking .. and found that the there are flights .. just they are all sold out.. Now you tell me what kind of business strategy this is . they put her up in a hotel for 5 to 6 day because no one can figure out ho to get her on a plane that is sold out , when they probably bumped her off a flight that was sold out .

OK has any one run in to this and what can she do. Can she get all the cost of her flight returned , and additional expences

West Jet

This just happened to a friend of mine. West Jet will cover all expenses and provide her with another ticket at a later time. It is their fault and their responsibility to get her to her destination and cover all incurred expenses. She shouldn't have any financial worries.

It's not West Jet's fault the weather sucks ;) Those are indeed the crappy risks of not only traveling during the winter, but even worse, during the holidays when the flights are sold out already so a canceled flight means big time back up and no available seats on most following flights... argh.

But I agree, getting stuck is no fun. I know the feeling.. No travel for me until jan 7th because of the holiday embargo on pet travel. I'd take Dec.26th over Jan7th in a heartbeat. At least WestJet is paying for your friends hotel, try getting stranded over the holidays and having to fork out for hotels. :(

I'd be happy just making it to Edmonton or even Calgary where I'd at least be able to stay with friends until my pooch can fly again. So send that private jet my way if you find one, please! lol
OR at least a place to stay that is NOT a hotel room....god am I ever sick of hotels. ugh. :(

I've been soooooooo good this year, I'm not asking for much, Santa.

Sigh. k... Sorry, rant done.
Back to watching my dog play in the snow. If it makes her that happy (and OMG does it ever!), it can't be that bad, right? :) ;)

I hope your friend makes it home safely and soon.

When your flighing and get there ?

that may be fantastic when every thing works out on the flight but don't get canceled in the middle of winter.

Oh i am sure the lady is doing fine in te all payed fro hotel.. and if she knew how long she was going to be could had made some money also.. But she just wants to get back here right now .. and then i thing she has to go some where else next week...
I never travel that much let alone for holidays or in winter.. and i won't be.
I guess there are people that put up with this all the time.

I thought Air Canada was paradise in the air?
I've flown AC numerous times and have always been satisfied.

The weather is fucking up most airlines that fly in and out of Canada right now.

My recent West Jet flight from Winnipeg to Edmonton was delayed by 7 hours. People with connecting flights get put up in hotels and take the next available flight (no guarantee when you actually get there).

I know the weather isnt forseeable but what I got pissed off about was that I have to make 3 separate phone calls to get my $250 credit, the most Westjet will refund, which didnt cover the cost of the flight.

I will still be giving them business since there isnt much competition but next trip I'm flying Air Canada:)

WHAT????

You haven't been following the news? Storms from coast to coast plus the northern states are wreaking havoc with air travel.

Anyone who does any amount of traveling would realize that what WJ did is above and beyond. The airlines are under no obligation to cover the costs associated with weather caused delays.

Traveling in winter and during the holidays is a risky venture and delays are inevitable.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused how the weather is west jet's fault. At least west jet is putting her up in a hotel, rather than expecting her to wait in the terminal. But hey if she's stuck in a hotel for a few days, why not make the best of it. Go out and enjoy Calgary, or put up a sign and take in a few customers. I dunno...free hotel, plus expenses covered for a few days...sounds like christmas to me too.

It sounds good

Yes I have not heard much of the news.. and i am not blaming west jet or any of them for the weather fuck ups.. But they know that happens also , and should have seats set aside for those that are already on route and get there connector flights canceled.. If you get canceled before you leave that is fine then you can make other plans .. but when you have started and half way through you are stuck.. No that is not cool , and i don't care what the norm has been ... Yes they are putting her up in a hotel and food i guess a long with many others . you would think it would be better to plan for bad weather and have seats open... they know they would have no problem filling them with stand byes..
Well hope fully she get here soon.. this is not just a day wait it has been 4 days going on 5...

For most of my north american travel i fly private, but any overseas travelling i usually use Air Canada and have never had a problem. Almost everybody i know is always bitching about AC but i have yet to have a bad experience. I hate Lufthansa though.

Some other International airlines i really enjoy and have never had a problem with for anybody planning some overseas traveling.

Kuwait Airways
Jet Airways
Emirates
Air India
American Airlines
Virgin
Air France

And like i stated earlier, i try to avoid Lufthansa at all costs.

Personaly using both for many trips in the last 8months;i would say that air canada is much worse than west jet although both could be much better.Unfortunatly there is not enough competition to make them putting any effort in customer service.2 majors airlines for 1 country:(
Air canada over charge on most of their flight;only allowed one piece of luggage is you get tango or tango plus flight, extra fee of 85$ total for an other piece of luggage.Air canada seem to be completly disorganize in some airport like Toronto/Montreal.
While i couldn't say that i am much a happy camper with west jet..they do have better rates, allow 2 pieces, extra luggage or weight is 42$.

I dream the day we will have as many airlines as USA does to be able to get more competitive rates(i remember booking on southwest a flight from new hamshire to SanDiego for 126)...i think i should keep on dreaming lol.

Not much that you can do for delay like the one describe
I fly AC and I get 4 pieces of luggage for free :D

As far as the industry in the US is concerned most of the carriers are in receivership Delta and Northwest just completed their merger and the number of available flights is being reduced everywhere. At least in Canada you don't have to pay for water like you do with one of the US carriers

heard air canada is a hell of alot worse,

i don't want to go into details but,
people have been on my case for the last week, because things are late not showing up,
weather related right,
and i tell them its the weather its the traffic,
im in calgary right and the roads the traffic this last week have been absoultely horrendous.
and they look out at the sun shinning and the clear road right in front of there nose, and tell me its not that bad out there.
when they have know fucking idea, what some of our guys are going through.

i have given up trying to explain anything to some people,
i suppose its bad customer service,
but i tell people the guys are in the bar or having a pizza break or whatever,

some people just want to bitch.
no explanation is good enough for them

This was on the CBC news today - I suppose they should be happy they got a flight at all.
http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2008/12/23/bc-airports-stranded-travellers.html

"Air Canada passenger Pina Belperio phoned CBC News after spending more than eight hours on board a plane waiting on the tarmac to take off.

When the passengers boarded the aircraft just after midnight they were told the aircraft had too much fuel and had to wait for a fuel truck that wouldn't arrive until 7 a.m. PT, but airline staff refused to allow the passengers to disembark, Belperio said.

The flight crew did serve some cold sandwiches and drinks but eventually ran out, meaning there would be no food or drinks for the five-hour flight to Toronto, according to Belperio.

Then, passengers had to wait for another flight crew to arrive at 8 a.m., and a short time later the flight took off. Air Canada could not be reached for comment on the delay."

I like WestJet. I've never had a cancelled flight and my flight from Edm-Van on the 22nd was delayed 25min only.

Unfortunately i met a couple in Van that were trying to get back to Sask. Their plane went to the end of the runway, sat there for 2hours, and turned around. Then delayed. Then got cancelled. They tried goin to Budget to get a car but they said they can't return it in Sask.

The worst is the Greyhound from Fort Mac to Edm. they overbooked, and there was minimal heat on the bus in -30!

The worst airline by far is United Airlines and Lion Air (local airline in Indonesia).

Best are:

Westjet
Singapore Airlines
United Arab Emirates Airlines

Vancouver Escorts
