Maybe spend your down time learning to read above a 3rd grade level its not an STD and he speculated he got it from a bbbj not a kiss you only get Mono through your mouth
Infection with cytomegalovirus (CMV) is very common. The infection is spread by:
Blood transfusions
Organ transplants
Respiratory droplets
Saliva
Sexual contact
Urine
Most people are exposed to CMV in their lifetime, but typically only individuals with weakened immune systems become ill from CMV infection. Some people with this condition develop a mononucleosis-like syndrome.
In the U.S., CMV infection most commonly develops between ages 10 - 35. Most people are exposed to CMV early in life and do not realize it because they have no symptoms. People with a compromised immune system can have a more severe form of the disease.
The fact is you can catch it from someone coughing and not covering their mouths. Airborne droplets in a ventilation system is common way to catch it too.
I know this first hand as someone I know who sat next to an infected person on a cross continent flight. The person next to them coughed and hacked all the way. The doctors took the blood sample and confirmed it right away.
I don't know why they call it the kissing disease since it is so easy to catch if the other person is in the infectious stage.
See was that so difficult? And again CMV isn't considered an STD and whether you got a CBJ or BBBJ didn't make a whole helluva lot of difference since being in the same room with the infected person is enough to get it

well for those of you who are wondering, yes, a bbbj will get you an std, or if not an official std, get you quite uncomfortable. Worst case of urinary tract infection I ever had was from a bbbj. That was about 20 years ago, and it was a lesson. Yes, had other cases of things from bbbj's too, other urinary tract infections or infections in that little gland down there, so whatever doctor told you diseases aren't transmitted that way, is not clued in entirely. Saliva carries a lot of bugs.

actually, bbbj's do NOT get you std's. std's are contracted from an individual who HAS the std and passes it on to you. bbbj's are one of the factors by which SOME std's are transmitted. however, herpes and genital warts, for example, can be transmitted even though you are using a condom properly for all phases of your sexual activity... but note that your partner must be infected first in order for you to get the std. if neither you nor your partner is NOT infected, then you both can practice 'unsafe' sex with each other until the cows come home and neither of you will get an std
i know all this is semantics, but in discussing risks of contracting disease, you are discussing a very technical subject, and the semantics you use are very important if you are to make any sense at all. if you don't believe me ask your doctor (assuming he/she knows how to speak english)

Thanks VanCity_Cowboy, you are correct, words are everything. Now did I really have an STD from a blowjob, well never had it analysed, but doctor just gave me meds and they worked. He didn't have to tell me anything. Knew where it came from. So yes, if we use the term std loosely in that any sexual action and you get a bug, then lets stay with lower case. If we say STD in that those are confined to things like herpes, syphyliss etc, then know did not catch that, but as you say, could be done that way.
